...luckily no tsunami danger and no damage reports thus far!

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The United States Geological Survey is reporting that a 5.5 MW earthquake was detected off the Oregon Coast Tuesday evening.

The quake located approximately 170 miles west of Coos Bay at a depth of 22 miles deep.

So far it appears the quake did not cause any damage and the USGS has stated that there is no threat of a tsunami.

The big one is coming. Cascadia is overdue for a massive quake

The earthquake will shake the rim and cause a Blazer desperation three to go in, giving us one more win in the Rose Garden before the entire block collapses into the river.

I think it's more likely to cause a Laker desperation three to go down while simultaneously liquefying every Blazer kneecap within a 100 mile radius.

The big one is coming!

DOGAMI just released a really interesting report last year on tsunami danger and 9+ magnitude subduction zone earthquakes. Basically, there's a slightly greater than fifty percent chance that one happens in the next fifty years; we're in the zone and slightly "overdue" if you look at the geologic record.

Different study, but pretty much the same conclusion -- DOGAMI's was a little more dire I guess.
