I've already said in other posts regarding CC -
He doesn't need a mid-90s fastball to compliment his change-up and breaking ball...nor does he have one any longer.
90-92 mph should be good enough.
Alex Cobb (TB) is a good example, he has a 91-92 MPH fastball and very good change-up, and that's about it!
He's one of the best pitchers in the league.
CC does have a good change-up and a good breaking ball--- before Alex Cobb was in the league. lol

I know there has to be an adjustment, CC has to get into the mind-set where he just can't consistently challenge hitters with his fastball.

...RHed hitters absolutely kill him now...and for the last 2 years his ERA+ has been 74 and 84...that's putrid.


...I doubt he'll ever be more than a back end of the rotation pitcher again.

Exactly 59. One needs a damn good FB, not a 89 mph one.....I really don't see CC ever returning to prior form, prior to this horrific year. I never did see CC throw anything above 88mph, 89 on occassion with NO consistency...truly a back end SP, or long term RP, if that....IF that.....

Plus- (keep in mind brides) CC is NOT Greg Maddux, who painted the corners so well, with only a 89 mph FB...
I got an old 1987 game on tape, with Maddux facing off against Nolan Ryan. Maddux was far from a HOF caliber SP at the beginning of his career. 6-14 with a 5.61 ERA....in 1987 far from stellar...!!!

and- I doubt CC would make any roster above and beyond a #4 or #5 Pitcher. On some Teams, CC would be lucky to make a SP staff......only perhaps a Bullpen middle inning reliever....!

In other words, seems CC is as good as done for......

Even a 88 mph FB, with an 83 mph cutter, is an Off Speed Change UP to/for Aroldis Chapman, and several other 100 mph hurlers....sad but true....

We may just of seen the last of CC Sabathia, and I doubt he will ever accept a AAA assignment...! I can't see any other team picking him up if he were DFA....
