My doctor said I have old man knees that look terrible. He asked me how I worked the last two weeks with one knee swollen like a beach ball.

Then the technician stuck needles in both of them and injected a steroid of some sort. She has had the same procedure done numerous times and performed it herself thousands. She was really good. Kinda nice to have someone do it who has also had it done. It was my first time. Looks like it might be a recurring thing.

Asked me if I needed a doctors note to miss work and I said nope....going to work. I had asked them if I would ruin the procedure if I worked and they said no.

Said no surgery because it might make it worse.

The tech did ask me if I hit my right one because the fluid was bloody. They're sending it to a lab...anyone know what the blood could be?

She hit something? Massive tumor?

Sorry to hear man. I had ACL surgery on my left knee years back. I can't imagine what it must be like to have fluid in both knees with all that swelling.

He saw xrays first and thought the right one would be worse. That one doesn't even bother me.

I let myself drink some NW wine my wife ordered the last month or so and it's either gout or pseudo gout. The lab can tell.

Damn I didn't know you could get gout in your knees. Learn something new everyday

Geez! Sorry to hear. I do not see anything you said that suggest gout. That comes in the toes, foot, and ankles.

You had 55 Chris Craigs drained from your knee?!?

Sooooo many questions.

Thankfully mine was nowhere near this bad. Might have made my own mini guillotine and got drunk and stuck my leg in it.

Dammit Man! That knee looks like my foot when I have the fucking gout!!!

That is hard shit to defeat, and you will find little help. You must find the food that causes it. Do you have high uric acid?

But I am not so sure this stuff is really the gout. Stop, quit, do not eat anymore stuff made with white flower. No bread, no donuts, nothing.

I only eat rye bread now.

No I do not know the answers, but I have been gout free for a few years now. No white bread fixed the issue. Crap! I have given up all other foods before that!!

Got a blood test in process and the lab will look at the fluid. They can tell what type if there are crystals.

I have been perfect on my diet for a couple of years. No flares. My knee was acting up but I thought it was the gym. Then add some wine and the weather cooled off and I didn't drink as much water as I normally did and BAM!

Oh fuck! You have high uric acid man. You must drink two or more quarts of water a day to flush that shit out in addition to cutting down the source food.
Drinking wine is probably not the source but it does contribute to dehydrating to exacerbate the uric acid level.

Get some Allopruinol to help you cut down the uric acid until you find the source food of your problem.

Forgive me, I am not a doctor. But geez I have had to deal with this issue. The doctors were not of great help.

But then, I am not sure uric acid is the real problem where GMO white flour is in the mix.

He'll be prescribing the allopurinol (spelling?) Most likely.

My regular doctor was amazed at my regular test results. My ldl was a few points over recommended and so was my glucose. All the kidney and liver stuff was perfect.

Yah but! Find the source man. Then prehaps the Alopurinol is not needed.

It was lack of water. Got cold and had some dental work done and wasn't drinking enough. I have my diet cut down to so few things I'll be eating orange dirt...err, carrots for every meal.

Sounds like gout. They've drawn fluid off me and it was gout. I know take allepuranol (sp?).

Honk twice

I struggled with gout in toes for a few years, I thought it was arthritis from pitching fast pitch softball for many years as I would always put a lot of pressure on right toe on my throwing jump.
Finally went to the doc took blood test, found out it was gout and not arthritis, put me on allopurinol and haven't had a bout in 6 years. The med keeps the UA level down.

Exactly correct.

I'm guessing torn cartilage. I have two cartilage tears in my left knee that I need to get fixed. Any time I try to run it balloons up.

I've had torn cartilage that's gotten worse for the last 65 years and no fluid. Docs said I should have my knee rebuilt but they can't do it because of other medical problems. No fluid build up. Just the gout.

By the way, I spend all day yesterday at the hospital because after my last procedure I started bleeding all over the place and they had to stop the bleeding. That's like the seventh time that's happened in the last four years.

Life sucks, and then you die.

Sorry to hear about your knees, buddy. Hopefully they are better over time. It may be time to think about changing your diet.

Depending on the severity from one person to another, some gout can also be controlled with dietary changes, such as drinking more water, eating less meat, and exercise.

That's what I'd been doing last few years and hadn't had a problem. Weather changed and stopped drinking enough water.

Barely eat red meat at all. Chicken and turkey burger. My wife ordered some wine from Washington and I was drinking too. Not even to get a buzz. Just like it. All those at once and whammo.
