Anyone listening to the 5th quarter?

That was really an awkward exchange between Jay and Kenny...

I think Kenny might've stormed off the set as a result. Jay was totally being unprofessional, jmo.

He kept cutting Kenny off, and putting words in his mouth and being a bit of a jerk to what Kenny was saying. Kenny was basically saying that Brandon (or anyone who has been in the league as short as Brandon has) doesn't really have as much of a say in who is traded or not, or at least as much as some people think he should, and Jay kept saying that Kenny said he shouldn't be allowed to say anything.

Jay does stuff like that a lot, where he hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest (hey, that sounds like a song lyric). He's kind of like some of us here, and acts like he's much smarter than he really is.

Not that Kenny doesn't act the fool every so often.

Was the basis of the trade conversation surrounding Outlaw?

Missed it, but Kenny Vance is one of the few on "the Game" that isn't always sunshine and rainbows when it comes to everything the Blazers do. He will criticize Nate's substitutions patterns and point out weaknesses in the players' games. He's never mean about it, and always presents a balanced view (good with the bad). I can see how that puts him at odds with the Barrett's and Jay Allen's who never, ever criticize anything the Blazers do.

I'm glad Kenny speaks his mind. I want a balanced viewpoint, not just the usual sunshine and rainbows.

They didn't really say who the trade involved, or trade talks involved. Basically, Kenny was saying that the GM shouldn't put much credence into what players say to him about keeping or not keeping players. Jay was trying to change what Kenny said, to sound like Kenny was saying "they don't have the right to speak their opinion".

But it wouldn't surprise me if certain players mgiht not be traded because of friendships with certain players on the team.

Jeeeeeee-yaaaaaay Allen annoys the hell out of me. Kenny Vance has probably forgotten more about basketball than Jay will ever know. I wasn't listening tonight, but it doesn't surprise me to hear he did something like this -- he's basically a lickspittle.

God, that's so unprofessional.

This is professional sports. There are hundreds of millions of dollars at stake. This isn't kick-n-chase soccer where you go over to your BFF's house for a sleep over.

Trades should be based on team needs, not personal friendships.

Well, Kenny was right.

Kenny is a hotheaded douchebag. I know from personal experience. Jay Allen probably has had enough of that two-faced prick.

Kenny Vance wants us all to look bad and will do whatever to make others look bad. I called in once before and gave him my 2 cents over the miller/blake debate earlier in the year....I gave him the ol' Rome, "OUT" when I got done talking...he then went on to call me a little nancy and told me if i was going to make a statement that i shoulda stayed on the air to talk about it. I called in a couple days later to talk about it again...got on the air, and he actually cut me off...and then went onto explain his point of view and how he was right...

oh well, who cares...

BLAZERS WON IN PHX!!!! Rip City!

Would have loved to have heard that.

I don't like it when sports radio hosts insult their callers and call them names.

However, you ended your call by using the catch phrase from another sports radio talk show. I can see why that might piss KV off a little. Isn't that like walking into Burger King and ordering a Big Mac?

And, if I read your post correctly, you then hung up on him. So, you disrespected him and hung up on him. Again that doesn't, IMHO, justify calling you a nancy, but I can see why he'd be offended.

KV is not Jim Rome. He doesn't expect his callers to "have at take", say "out" and hang up the phone. He likes to keep his callers on the line to actually discuss their comments. Try that approach next time and see if he returns the favor and treats you with a little more respect. I suspect he will. If not, well then you're right, he's a dick.

Kenny has so much more knowledge about the game then Jay Allen (or whatever his name is) its almost unfair that they pair him up with him. Vance played college ball and has been covering the NBA since Jay Allen was shitting in his diapers. I'm not sure Jay Allen has even played a team sport in his life.

Sure, Vance can be a little belligerent at times, but he's a good guy that knows his shit.

Kenny Vance has, at best, medium knowledge about pro basketball.

Sadly, of all the cities in the country that have a major league team of any sort, Portland probably has the very worst media.

Which is another way of saying he has more knowledge about NBA basketball than John Canzano, Jay Allen, Chad Doing and Gavin Dawson combined.

Jay Allen, Mike Barrett and Brian Wheeler are pathetic Blazer homers....

It is one thing to be pro-Blazer in what you have to say, but these three guys seem incapable of any objectivity when it comes to the Blazers or Nate....I won't listen to the radio anymore and if I can avoid the Blazer telecast, I will....Listening to Barrett & Rice molest Blazer players with praise no matter how good\bad they have played (and it is worse when they discuss Nate) is sickening....

Fans should do themselves a favor and listen to national\opponents telecasts when at all possible...they are much less biased and what a shock! actually point out some valid praise\criticism....The idiot radio and TV duos seem capable of only praise (or excuse making in a loss), no matter what the result.

Having listened to Jay Allen, I am convinced he is an idiot who is in over his head....If he dissapeared to whatever obscurity he crawled out from I wouldn't lose a second of sleep about it....

As for Vance, I don't know him personally, but have heard him on the air frequently and he is the ONLY sports personality who knows what the hell he is talking about and the ONLY person who can talk about the Blazers from an objective point of view....and BTW, Vance is SPOT ON the majority of his observations regarding the Blazers....

Having heard him a lot, anyone calling him an a-hole is probably either an idiot who got his a$$ handed to him in a conversation with him or a bigger a-hole....

Having known him for a while, I stand by my posts in this thread. He's a hothead, and he flies off the handle when things don't go his way. I never said he wasn't good radio, though.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Blaze01 again.

The MP3 of it fell in my lap. How do I post it?
