I was in Northern California for the Loma Prieta earthquake, which destroyed freeways and all that.
Today we had a really big one that we felt here in San Diego. The house shook, doors swung on their hinges, ceiling fans swinging back and forth, etc.
This was a 6.9 on the richter scale, the Loma Prieta one was 6.9, too.
I've been through dozens of quakes before, and these two are the only ones I realized "it's an earthquake!" within 2-3 seconds.
