60 wins?

The 91 team finished the season with a 16 game win streak and then a loss. They fell apart in the middle of the season.

That's right! Nvm

Even though that team was more exciting, I think this team can do bigger things just because I think IQ wise they are far superior. Agree with Jaynes. Allen needs to tell Olshey to 'go for it'.

He very well could have a sb victory and nba championship in the same year. And then Mr. Allen you can hang it up!

Really! I never knew you to disagree with me, I remember you using the racist label several times but I don't remember a logical disagreement.

We almost never agreed on O-Live. Especially when you brought up the Assist to Missed shot ratio (random stat no one ever uses. Hell I never even heard of it until you brought it up) to grade Lillard. You were down on him from the get go. But that's just one of our disagreements. ;)

Oh Yes! This would be the year to prod PA into action before the trade deadline. We need a better guard than Mo W.
A defensive specialist would help too.

Is there one though? I'll tell you what (I may get REAMED for this) I'd take Sergio back in a heartbeat right now. His outside shot is way more consistent and we know he would get our 2nd unit going. Defensive specialist? A big or a little? Dalembert?

Better question: Do they advance out of the first round (finally)?

That's another question and a great question but not better, in my opinion. West is brutal. Who,ever we play in the first round, it will be a deep battle-tested team or Phoenix (maybe Minn or NO, I suppose). While we are a fantastic road team, it is still highly important that we get HCA throughout the whole playoffs especially since we don't have a lot of experience. As I said, though, we are a great road team. If we keep that up, it will give us confidence to get a road win if we drop a home game.

I'm definitely not one of the let's just win one round fans though. That wouldn't mean much to me. If we're in the playoffs, I want to win the whole thing or it's a disappointment. For now, though, the best we can do is have a stellar regular season.

Terry Stotts said this about Mo on the radio: "He comes in, brings a lot of energy, makes his shots. He's the best backup point guard in the league and we're lucky to have him."

This is how I have viewed Mo since his entrance which is interesting. I wasn't quite as excited as the rest of you about his signing. But I like what he brings and I can see why Terry would say such a thing about him.

Well I expect there are many things in the history of the game that you do not know about. Did you ever hear of Pete Newell? That measurement was sort of common in those days, Pete liked it as information about Guards on teams he was going to play. He planned the defense depending of the tendencies of superior guards. But feel free to disagree, hell I guess I am lucky you omitted the racist shit.

Oh yeah, Lillard doesn't have the same sort of A/M like John Stockton or Magic Johnson so a different sort of defense would be in order. Probably would not make a shit what you come up with on 6 for 6 3pointer night.
However, percentages are valuable to know as are tendencies.

Wow? You don't think things are going to get much tougher in the 2nd half of the season? When teams actually start playing playoff style defense? O.K then.

Well someone has to win those incredibly difficult games. Why not us? We have shown we can win playoff intensity games like we did against Clippers, Warriors, Thunder, and Pacers. Those teams REALLY wanted to beat us and couldn't get it done.

Right. It amazes me how many people in here don't yet realize how good the Blazers are this year. Too used to rooting for a loser that they don't recognize a winner when they see one. Incredible.

I think the Blazers will win there share of tough games, they will also lose there share too though. I mean I did say we would win 55 freakin games! I don't think that's such a bad thing.

55 wins would be great given preseason predictions and when all was said and done, I'd be proud of the team. But at 27-6, it's hard to imagine us going only 28-21 the rest of the way unless there is some awful injury.

I was thinking of a defensive specialist to play the 2s and 3s but hell I don't know who. Our big guy are going to have to do.
Sergio would be great backing up Lillard but hell he is doing great where he is and getting him back would no doubt be really hard.

Yes it will get much tougher, but I doubt we will ever see a .500 stretch of ten games by this team. I would be surprised if we had anything more than a 3 game losing streak.

This team is built to win and they've already proven they don't break down from heartbreaking losses, something that hasn't been in years past. I think we will at least be a .650 team the rest of the way. That's low balling too.

Go Blazers!

we are 26-7 and still figuring each other out and learning the systems. this team is destined for greatness. im having a hard time believing they'll lose 20 games total

Well, I think your crazy if you don't think there will be a 10 game stretch of .500 basketball. This is not the 96 Bulls. Even the Heat have 10 game stretches of .500 basketball. This will certainly happen. None of this even matters though. They will have a very good record and probably the 3rd seed, just pray they get a good matchup in the 1st round. That is all that really matters. Or they could actually make a trade and get the 1 seed.

3rd seed? Who is finishing ahead of us? The clowns in SA and OKC? HahahahahahA! I also don't think we'll ever lose 5 in 10. We'll see!

I think they need to worry about the Philadelphia 76ers.

If that is all that matters, perhaps you should only hang out in game threads, and leave the fanciful basketball chatter to the fanatics?

60 wins is very achievable for this bunch. Add another good big man and this team is a title contender.

I was going to say 62 wins, until you jinxed the hell out of us with this post. Popovich is preparing his voodoo curse squad right at this very moment.

While we still have to play some quality opponents on the road, I am having a tough time seeing us lose 18. 60 is definitely a possibility.

Unless we trade for Chandler/Shumpert and Stotts starts reading all of the threads about defense. Then, we win 70.

Glanced through the schedule, and 33-16 looks pretty reasonable. That puts us at 59. Geez, I don't know...

I'm sticking with my guess of 57.

Just curious--is there a reason that we assume that other teams will start playing better defense in the second half of the season, but the Blazers won't?

Don't forget about the teams rolling out the tank. Getting 60 wins this year is going to be tougher than doing it next.
