We do this deal and we go into "win now" mode. Andre Miller makes a lot of sense though.

By the way, this was not a reported deal on the table. Terry Foster from the Detroit News was on in the 6 o'clock hour, and Gavin asked him if that package would get it done. That is all.

You do this yesterday if it's on the table. I love Rudy but he's not the solution at the 3 or the 1.
Exactly. Rudy also isn't a guy who will be Roy's career backup... once his rookie contract is up, he's going to play hardball with us. Prince is a starting quality SF who will mentor Batum. Plus, Prince is old enough that once Batum is ready for primetime, Prince can either go to the bench gracefully or be traded for a backup SF.
I'd do this move.
I will say that if this deal went down (and hey, if Maxiell were added to it, I might not be as down on it), this would be a fun lineup to see:
PG: Nicolas Batum
SG: Brandon Roy
SF: Tayshaun Prince
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge
C: Greg Oden
Batum would man the point for defensive purposes, Roy would be the quarterback and Prince would add a little passing. The lineup would be long, quick and potentially a defensive monster without losing any offense.
The 24th pick is really not worth that much. So this is really Rudy+Outlaw for Prince. I think that is fair and would fit well in so many ways.
In the back of your mind you have to also wonder if Rudy will stay in Portland long term or bolt for Spain at some point. It especially makes sense if you are shipping Sergio out too.
Some things to consider though:
Prince just turned 29
Prince got lit up by LeBron (who doesn't), but dropped from 14 PPG down to less that 4 PPG during the Cleveland series. His assists and rebounds also dropped by almost half. Trading Rudy and Outlaw for a SF who gives you 4 pts, 3.5 reb and 1 asst in the playoffs, and can't slow down LeBron doesn't sound that great all the sudden. I think Batum could have done better than that.
I'm a little surprised. Tayshaun seems like a great team guy, a great vet, another option who brings a element we don't have in being able to post up smaller guys, can handle the ball and playoff experience. Rudy IMO is very inconsistant and may become a deadly shooter more consistantly. Fans really seem to value Rudy a ton. I like him, but Martel should be able to fill in for some of the gap Rudy leaves. We also keep our cap space to add another good addition.
Maybe this has already been brought up. Gavin was saying that there was a report that Portland could get Tayshaun Prince for the 24th pick, Travis Outlaw and Rudy Fernandez. I would put a link but I didn't catch the who conversation. Would you pull the trigger of that deal?
That said: if you take Rudy out of there, then I probably would. This needs to be a Poll!

Poll is kind of misleading. I think most would rather keep Rudy and trade Martell. The problem is, I think Detroit would rather have Rudy, too.
except Rudy already has shown more than Martell in the NBA.. and I'm a fan of Martell.
"Already"? Rudy is a year and a half older than Martell.
It's true that Rudy had a better season than any Webster has had, but Webster won't turn 24 until his sixth season... which is the year after next. Rudy turned 24 in April.
Comparing a 18 or 19 or 20 year-old's production to that of a 23 year-old just doesn't strike me as very fair or terribly productive.

Well, I understood it differently. I'd rather trade Martell, of course, but I'd trade Rudy if Detroit demanded him (which I think they would).
Yeah, that's what I figured and picked option #1. Still was a little confusing with the options between Martell and Rudy.
when I said already I meant more of the abilty to make the perfect extra pass to someone who is open. Rudy while not consistently showed some ability to create for others. And offered more help defense in the passing lanes. Wasnt really comparing their ceilings in the nba etc.

Makes sense. I agree, in that case!

Rudy isn't going to be on the team long term. He is going to want to start and get paid, neither of which is going to happen here. I love Rudy, but it really isn't in his best interest to stay with the team after his rookie contract is up.
