I was going to say that I bet the Florida atty general was hot. Right I was.

I love that part about Florida and the Ho fighting gay marriage.

Hypocrite much??????

I'd be her 4th husband if I was single, I bet she is rich.

She reminds me of Anna Camp, in True blood

I will feel I have "won" when there is no discrimination against LGBT people in marriage, employment, housing, health care, legal system, etc. And there is absolutely no indication, based on marriage equality in the U.S. and in other countries, that same sex marriage has the slightest impact on opposite sex marriage. In no country or U.S. state that has marriage equality has there been a decline in straight couples getting married or an increase in straight couples getting divorced. The idea is totally absurd. How does Couple A getting married cause Couple B to not marry? For those of you who are married, when you decided to marry your spouse, you might have thought about compatibility, children, each other's family, finances, religion, all kinds of things before deciding. But did you for one second think that you are going to get married because gay people can't? Or that you won't get married because gay people can? When Meyers Leonard announced his engagement, he talked about being a lucky guy who found his dream girl, not that they might not marry after all because gay people are!

Gay people were never "free to marry". That is why we have to fight for that right.

In actual news, Illinois has started marrying same sex couples as of June 1.
In Florida, the state attorney general is fighting the suit launched to end the ban on same sex marriage, saying gay marriages are unstable and bad for families. She is on her third marriage. The first two ended in divorce after 5 and 2 1/2 years respectively. Her current marriage was conducted in the Cayman Islands as a non legally binding agreement. She has no children from any of her 3 marriages. Good thing we have such shining examples of stable marriage, right?

I don't think Gay people will ever gain the "right" to marry, but it appears it will become legal. Society is easing the requirement for straight people to marry so whether you want it or not, it appears Gays will be the people that marry. If you call a straight man Gay, what sort of reaction do you get? How long will it be before you get the same reaction if you ask, are you married?

Oh, Rights come from God, just as it states in our declaration of Independence. Gay people never had the Right to marry nor the requirement. So when it becomes legal, it will be legal but still not a right and legal status is always tenuous, a right is unquestionable.

Ha! Funny you ask what I thought when I married, I was rather gay that day and the thought of homosexuals did not come into play. "Gay" had an entirely different meaning and Homosexual was the polite word to use in that time. But my rights and your rights have remained the same.

Being on the wrong side of history sure makes people incoherent. Gays may marry legally but it's not a right because rights come from god which it says in the Declaration of Independence which does not include gays because when MarAzul said he was gay he did not mean homosexual.

Or something.

marriage was just for the straights before and now gays are getting into it

just like anal sex was just for gay people before and now its all the rage with the straights

i think some things are just so good that everyone wants to get in on it, my point being, marriage is exactly like anal sex.

painful.

I have never understood the outrage of conservative right wingers with gay marriage. I realize the Bible says man and woman, but while I am Christian, and believe in the Bible, I think, like many laws written a long time ago, there needs to be room for interpretation. Saying the Bible is against same sex marriage is absolutely false.

As someone who has been married 24 years, I wish nothing more than this hell on those damn gays :)

Who decided which is "the right side of history?" Seems like a post provided with a healthy does of pomposity.

Now that is a funny post.

Heh heh heh! I laid a thought from three different books on you but I don't think you decoded one clue. Sorry I didn't intend to add to your confusion.

Hint. "The Art of Power" is one, a book a failed to list in the other thread.

Since the two Supreme Court decisions a year ago, 13 lower court cases have been heard on marriage equality. All were decided pro equality. Every popular vote since the Court decisions has gone pro equality, as have legislative votes. Nearly half the population now lives in states that have marriage equality. A clear majority now supports marriage equality. All 50 states either have marriage equality, a pro equality decision on hold pending appeal, or a suit against marriage discrimination. Among the younger generation there is overwhelming support for marriage equality. Barring a totally unexpected seismic shift in US/world politics, the momentum in favor of marriage equality is past the point where it can be overturned. That is the right side of history. It's pretty hard to argue otherwise, which is why name calling is used instead.

Before Jackie Robinson re-broke (yes, re-broke, baseball was once integrated, then segregated, then re-integrated) baseball's color bar, some light-skinned African American athletes took on Spanish names and pretended to be Cuban to play ball. To keep up the charade, in a totally segregated America of that time, they could not attend black churches or social events, invite family members to games, date black women. Not surprisingly, most when their playing days were over dropped the charade. Did they "bounce" between being black and being white (or Hispanic)? Or were they African-Americans who were hiding and lying?

No one bounces between gay and straight. The only time I bounce is when my bra wears out. And I'm now worn out and out of here.

Sounds like you're the catcher in that scenario, eh? :ghoti:

I'm like tim wakefield's personal catcher doug mirabelli, I specialize in catching the knuckler.

If you know what I mean

It is pretty hard to argue otherwise, it is also harder for certain people to admit they were wrong....so they argue.

PS, Jonah Hill proved a good example of what I was saying earlier. He got pissed off and let the expletives fly!!!

Funny thing is, I've been called a bigot repeatedly by crandc in the past, yet I can honestly say I've literally never once used a gay or racial slur toward anyone, let alone in anger.

It's OK for Jonah Hill and Alec Baldwin to use gay slurs as insults, because they are on the "right" political team.

I would rather be called gay or *** than be treated nice to my face only to have my rights denied.

What Jonah Hill did was fine in my book, but who knows what he really thinks?

I don't agree with her labeling you for your beliefs. If you had some power over gay marriage and denied it I could understand.

I don't believe that many people choose to be gay if any, so I can't see discrimination being acceptable. It isn't up to me.
