A giant WTF moment on Discovery Health

The documentary "A New Face for Marlie" follows a young girl who had a large growth in her throat that completely took over her face. The girl goes to the USA (I think, I checked in half-way in), has the surgery, removes the growth (her face still distorted) and returns to Haiti.

On their return the community holds a giant prayer in the local church (around 500 people show up), and her mother testifies that a miracle saved her daughters life, that they should praise God for saving Marlie's life and for helping to give her her face back.

uh, did they totally forget the surgery part?

Like, how do you fuck that up. There's NOOOOOOO way you could attribute that to religion, yet somehow they found a way.

I mean even if they were religious, wouldn't it be more accurate to say that God caused it? That's usually how they perceive inherent detriments: "this is god's plan," et cetera. Meanwhile it was clearly man-made technology and science that removed the growth and saved her life. They really have it backwards.

...or maybe in the first half of the show they introduced Jesus as the surgeon

I did a google search to get the images, and in that search I found additional pictures that looked as if they had to be after the show was done. It looks like she got some plastic surgery because as you said it, she's come a long way.
