A quarter of Donald Trump’s transition team is made up of his immediate family.

Mr Trump has filled the 16-member executive committee with his daughter Ivanka, his sons Eric and Donald Junior, and his son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Mike Pence has been appointed as the head of the team as Mr Trump prepares to move into the White House.

Ivanka Trump is a 35-year-old mother-of-three and was at her father’s side speaking at rallies throughout the campaign. She also introduced Mr Trump as the Republican nominee for US president.

Eric Trump is an Executive Vice President of development and acquisitions at the Trump Organisation and founded the Eric Trump Foundation which raises money for a children’s research hospital. He also oversees his father’s 18 golf courses.

Donald Trump Jr is the eldest child and is also an Executive Vice President at The Trump Organization. The 38-year-old was also a guest advisor on The Apprentice.

Mr Kushner, a 35-year-old Harvard graduate, married Ivanka Trump in 2009 and was seen as the architect behind the President-elect's online and social media campaign.

The appointment of Mr Pence as head of the team makes Mr Trump the first incoming president since Jimmy Carter to use his Vice President-elect to run his transition team.

In a statement, Mr Trump said Mr Pence would "build on the initial work" done by his predecessor.

"Together, we will begin the urgent task of rebuilding this nation — specifically jobs, security and opportunity," Mr Trump said.

President-elect Donald Trump campaigned on his status as an outsider who was not beholden to lobbyists or special interests, with “Drain the swamp!” as a frequent rallying cry at his events. Now, the Republican is tapping a slew of lobbyists and top donors to head his transition team.

At least a half dozen major Washington lobbyists and three top fundraisers for Mr. Trump’s campaign have been tasked with heading key portions of Mr. Trump’s transition team, according to a list obtained by The Wall Street Journal. In many cases, the lobbyists are selecting administration officials for departments that will affect the interests of firms they represent.

So much for having his kids run his businesses for him.

Trump has to put his businesses in a blind trust. That is the only fair and honest way to operate while he's in office. I know he won't and I know the people who voted for him won't demand it.

This is what will eventually bring Trump down. He will be caught investing in the business that he grants government favor and/or contracts to while in office.

I am not even sure that Trump wants to go 4 years (let alone 8). He might just do this on purpose at some point to get caught.

Mr. Trump, a homebody who often flew several hours late at night during the campaign so he could wake up in his own bed in Trump Tower, is talking with his advisers about how many nights a week he will spend in the White House. He has told them he would like to do what he is used to, which is spending time in New York when he can.

There is no legal requirement currently that you must live in the White House as President. However, there is a rule that you have to follow your security detail's orders on protection and there is no more secure location to protect a president then the White House.

Sigh. I was afraid of this.

Insiders need to set him strait before he's sworn in. He absolutely cannot have his children hold his fucking hand for him.

Flying back and forth to Trump Tower? Absolutely out of the question. And nevermind the fact that I don't think the Secret Service would allow it; seeing as it's a matter of not only national security, but of massive security issues in general with traffic, security check points, no fly zones, etc etc.

Come on Trump. Time to pull your pants up.
 
@blue32 what are your thoughts on this? I know regular conservatives dislike lobbyists but the ones in power are the exact opposite.

Oh the chicken little on the cabinet members is hilarious. Liberals can't just fucking lose with grace LOL.

The guy won, he gets to appoint who he wants. Deal with it. Some people are going to be in his cabinet that we're loyal to him from day one.

The swamp will be drained hopefully starting with the DOJ and FBI.

I agree there. I'm just thinking that if it's not against law then he should be able to go where he wants and go into the office when he needs to.
