I can't buy it Steve, Sorry but I just don't see ANYONE being a $20M dollar bench player so IMO if he is wearing pinstripes in 2015 he'll be the primary 3rd baseman. Like I said JMO.

I think it was most likely a statement to A-Rod... more posturing than anything
 
...ARod was barely mobile enough to play 3B in 2013...no way he can play now.

...and posturing is probably right...it wouldn't be very smart of the Yanx to come out and say they intend to eat the contract. If they did it would leave themselves open for litigation. ARod has a lot of bonus money hanging out there based on different plateaus. ARod and his attorneys could claim the Yanx purposely kept from paying him that money by preventing him from having a chance to earn those bonuses because they cut him loose.
...the Yanx need to be careful with the ARod situation.
 
Question:

I'm not sure I understand the CBA correctly or not, but If A-Rod were released and someone were to pick him up, the Yankees would still pay, correct? Does that include bonuses for plateaus?

As part of the contract agreement I would think it would.

...not sure to be honest...Obviously, I don't know all of the contract language, but I'd have to think that if he were released any further contractual obligations from the Yanx would also end. I'm just guessing...but it is an interesting question.

...I can't imagine any other team wanting to take on his baggage anyway.

Put his ass on 3rd base regularly/whenever...I know Headley may be there..but, if...I believe in the Billy Martin philosophy..and HE WASN'T ALONE ....put Arod on 3rd base, allow him to either flourish, settle in and help out, or fall on his face which kinda clears up a couple of matters including plain old squawking and complaining about lack of playing time and ulterior motives... and if he breaks down in short order, on with the show.

I don't expect it from Girardi or any other current MGR.
They're just too dam nice guys who like to pat players on their asses.

This is a by-product of managing multi-millionaires.

He'll may make it past ST imo.
If he does, I wonder how long before he does break down.

We really don't know what this guy's work regiment was all this time.
He HAS always been a superior athlete even without the Peds.
Honestly - I hope he's in great condition and leaves no doubt and helps the team but I am concerned about the negative vibes he's going to bring onto the team from outside.

I can see crowds coming out just to boo him and of course the team does wear the same uniform. lol
As if the Yanks needed to be hated any more than they already are.

( sources?) a-rod is an enigma....who does not deserve

Let's be smart....create a bunch of ARod social media handles and start posting Cartoons of Muhammad and other negative items about Islam. Then sit back and let ISIL and Al Qaeda fight over who beheads him first. Then stuff and mount the head and present it to Bud as a lasting trophy to his MLB service.
