There was this former Sonic player and coach who was hired to coach the Blazers. Some would say he wasn't a "great" coach - his career winning percentage was .536 (.449 in the play-offs). His career in Portland was derailed by injuries and mismatched talent on the roster.

He was fired after 2 season.

His name is Lenny Wilkens, and he is in the HOF. He is also one of the finest gentlemen to ever play/coach in the NBA. Blazers gave him 2 seasons, and when he didn't produce, they kicked him to the curb.

Nate's supporters need to get a grip. He has nothing to complain about the way the team has treated him.

End of lecture.

I forgot to add - in his first year as coach, Wilkens was still on the active roster as a player. He averaged 3.6 APG in 18 MPG.

Let's see you top that Nate! :devilwink:

Nate tore up his knee last time he tried to practice with the team.

Hell yes, bring Lenny back as player coach. He's a better coach than Nate and at age 74 probably still a better PG than anyone on our current roster!

Hey, they're both black, they both played for the Sonics, they must be equal at coaching. Works for me!

Lenny Wilkins deserves a fair share of credit for our only Championship.
