Personally I think I'd like to see us bring in a distributor. The thing I liked about Maynor was that he could play with Lillard, and let Dame play off the ball a bit. I don't really see CJ filling that role, so I think he'll end up being more like a backup shooting guard/scoring punch off the bench. I think Lillard can play the point while CJ slides in at shooting guard, but I don't think the opposite would work as well.
Am I the only one that thinks Earl Watson should be a bigger free agency get than people have talked about?
He's still one of the best on-ball defenders in the league, and he's your prototypical pass-first point guard, with veteran experience, that can be bought for veterans minimum, and still log a solid 10-15 mpg, where you know at the very least, he's not going to screw things up on either end of the court.
+1Personally I think I'd like to see us bring in a distributor.
Everyone keeps trumpeting the need for a 3rd PG. I can't disagree that it'd be a nice luxury, but I have trouble envisioning any of the names being bandied about signing up for a 0-minute gig.
No to Aaron Brooks. No D. Will just take valuable time away from DL and CJMac.
Why'd they let Maynor go? He was a great fit for our team, he was a legit "PG" and allowed Damian to play some SG, which he excelled at.
Extending the Q.O. to Maynor would have meant less cap space. That he signed for the bi-annual excepting for the Wiz tells me there wasn't much of a market for him. Either way, it's no big loss.
But what if CJ or DL get hurt? Who do you want holding down the fort until he comes back? You can't have too many good players on a team.

I don't know what peoples definition of good, great and etc are (everyone is different) but I will say that Maynor is an above-average NBA player. Slightly but that is how I feel.
I wouldn't have mind keeping him but I also think it isn't much to worry about. We do need a 3rd PG but that guy is going to be inactive for a lot of NBA games. That isn't Maynor.
Where was he above average? It certainly wasn't on the court...
Assist to Turnover ratio was above average for NBA PGs. 3rd best 3pt percentage for players on our team.
And it is not really any one stat but he finally made our bench unit better. It was absolutely horrible before he came.
His career 3pt% is 35%. Average. His AST% hovers aroud 30%. Average. His per minute numbers are 11/7 per 36. Average.
His TS% is 47.8%, bad. WS/48 is .50, bad. Career PER of 11, bad.
He literally does one thing okay and that's not turn the ball over. Am I missing something here? He's nothing special.
As for our bench, you could grab a raccoon off the road and they would perform better than Sasha Pavlovic and Nolan Smith.
If Maynor was a good player, I'd agree.
Wait a minute. You just said the other day that we should re-sign him.
You flip and flop these days more than Republican politicians. Thats saying a lot.
When do you think we will meet with Nolan Smith and make him an offer?
Sent from my baller ass iPad FAMS!
