Now we have Conservatives saying that older folks should be out working to save the economy because (it appears) we are more expendable.......and far less valuable than corporate profits. Excuse me while I dig out my old lunch bucket...and my last will and testament. It’s okay for old people to die but save the babies. I tend to lean towards the pro life side (while defending a woman’s right to choose) but this is just more utter hypocrisy.

I would like to thank you for your sacrifice and commitment towards my 401k.

Thank you, S2 for letting me share my opinion(s) in this thread. Those who are not interested can certainly walk on by.

Maybe you're not aware of it but much like freedom of speech, "opinions" aren't a one way street and are not exempt from ridicule by others who have the same right to argue conversely.

Everyone is so mean and do not respect MY freedom of expression, and so we begin the transition to the persecution complex. How predictable.

S'cuse me?? LOL

This thread is kind of pointless. Most hospitals are cancelling non-essential procedures. It’s just a thing that’s happening. Im sure abortions that are not result of complications or special circumstances fall under the ‘non-essential’ umbrella, right along with thousands of any other procedures that are non life threatening. Resources are being conserved for coronavirus efforts, it shouldn’t be a political statement.

Sort of a waste of time arguing over this, it’s just a fact of life right now.

Amen, brother!!

Tennessee Gov Wants Abortion Businesses to Close, Killing Babies is Not “Essential” Medical Care

On Monday, Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee issued an order for all medical facilities to stop any non-essential medical care in order to preserve medical supplies to fight the coronavirus. Today, the governor said that order applies to abortion centers

“The executive order was certainly crafted in order to provide [personal protective equipment] for health care” professionals involved in the coronavirus response, as well as ensure resources were available for those suspected or already known to have the potentially deadly infection, he said.

“This would be like any other non-essential procedure,” Lee said regarding abortion. “It would be treated the same, and my expectation and belief and certainly my expectation is that no non-essential procedures would be performed in the state during the crisis and during this time we need all of those supplies to be used on the frontlines of protecting citizens.”.......
Who's talking about killing babies? They're not really a baby until they have a developed nervous system and are a viable life form.

Dude, that's what happens in these parts. Look around.

As to our Governor, I applaud this decision as Tennessee needs every piece of essential medical equipment, and supplies, it can get its hands on. Shutting abortion clinics down helps to stem the crisis.
It creates another crisis that is arguably worse than the one it's supposed to be solving.

There is a point in development where a fetus becomes a viable human, and it’s sometime before they exit the womb. That’s just scientific fact, it shouldn’t even be a controversial statement to make.

Officially and as defined by the Supreme Court and by the Medical profession that's not science.

You may want to re-phrase that. I have no idea what you are trying to say.

Who am I condemning??
Pregnant women who can't handle giving birth to a fetus for one reason or another.

Look, I understand your concern but you have to give ground to the vast majority of the country. Your efforts are counterproductive.

I'd shift my effort from preventing abortions altogether to helping mothers and their children who have big problems. Now, there's something productive.

In the Book I read/follow, it's called conception.

Yes...and tender and wise counseling way upstream to educate these girls regarding the potential physical, emotional, social, spiritual, etc. dangers/problems that having an abortion can bring.

I've already said that many times in here.

It’s ok to have that opinion, but in a functioning society we can’t make laws based on what books certain people like to read. Obviously the right answer is laying somewhere in the gray area, but neither hardcore religious people or hardcore liberals are able to see the color gray. It’s gotta be either “throw lady in jail because she got raped and wants an abortion” or “women should be able to abort a 9 month old fetus”

Radicals on either side control the argument and rational people get drowned out.

Yeah, but it sure pisses me off that I have to postpone my penis enlargement procedure indefinitely.......

The same could be said about girls being forced to having an unwanted child.

I hear all that, and understood, but the Tennessee Governor's recent decision surrounding all this was/is the right one, IMO.

I do not believe in hell either - but it poses an interesting theological questions. If you are a single issue voter and because of that chose the wrong candidate, and that candidate by his ineptitude causes thousands of people to die - do you go to hell? Logically (not something I am accusing any religion of being, sorry if I offend), you would, wouldn't you? You supported an evil, incompetent man whose actions killed people - you are complicit.

"For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds" John 1:11
He's not a single issue voter. He's lying about that.

You can entirely have that opinion...and I'm not attempting to change it. I'm simply relating my own. Stuff like that happens around here.

The same governor that also signed a bill this year saying that gays can't adopt.

It’s just seems like grandstanding to me. Plenty of abortions are non-essential and I think hospitals around the country will make that decision where they see fit without the help of a Tennessee governor.
