Ok, so you (and really anyone I ask this to) can't provide me with any kind of answer for when things will be made whole. How do we know when that will be? Is there a realistic line that we need to hit? By 2045 white people will become a minority in the United States. Is that the line? Or will that not matter because of wealth distribution?

To be honest, I doubt it happens in our lifetimes, but hopefully steps continue to be made to get there.
It's not simply a matter of how many different people there are, though.
And people that have power generally don't want to concede power.

Things get better over time, but there's no specific line because there's no numeric value for total racism in society. We can still see plenty of signs of unequal society, both quantifiable (like proportions of minorities in various powerful or well-paying professions, wealth distribution, etc) and either non-quantifiable or less quantifiable (racist harassment towards game developers, athletes and really anyone who comes into the eye of the internet; disproportionate police brutality towards minorities, etc) so we know that darker skinned people still face a much more dangerous world in our society than white people do.

When it gets to the point where we're not sure if we're still seeing any significant discrimination based on race, then we're in a much better position to ask whether we need to worry about different standards when it comes to protections for non-white people.

So you disagree that there's a different set of rules? That woman said "violent white men are the greatest terrorist threat to our country." Is she going to lose her job? Are there repercussions for her? That's Kamala Harris' niece right there. Has Kamala come out and denounced her tweet? My point from the beginning is that if someone in the public eye had done something similar, assumed a violent act was a POC or made a statement that violent POC are the greatest terrorist threat to our country, they'd lose their job. They'd be "cancelled." So if someone is allowed to make statements like that without any repercussions, it's the same as saying it's okay. It's the same as endorsing that kind of message.

You're still making excuses for this kind of attitude.

You brought up hate crimes. So if someone walked up and shot a white person because they're white, should that not be charged as a hate crime? Or are you going to make excuses for that as well.
What is a 'POC'?

When have I ever said that white people are the truly oppressed people today? I'm talking about a different set of rules and standards. There is racism all over, but only one form is racism is publicly okay and carries zero repercussions. So if you think it's wrong for me to point that out, sorry, I'm going to keep doing it. I just want people to be held to the same social standards. I want it to not be okay to be racist against anyone, regardless of their color.
You do whatever you want but that doesn't make it right.

Who are by far the most violent terrorists? White guys

Interesting.... are you forgetting about 9/11? Just under 3,000 people died? Planes crashing into buildings? What do you think is comparable to that? Or not just comparable but exceeds it?

Person of Color.

Ok.

I don't know, let's say a bunch of white Nazi dudes in Germany that killed millions of Jews.

I thought we were talking about America and terrorism. Are we expanding this out worldwide and all forms of mass killing? Genocide to me is a different motive than terror.

Is it not terrorism? Did it not come to America in the form of the KKK and other more recent white supremacist groups who have terrorized our country for decades. Heck white men were terrorists before then with the slaves. Violent terrorists.

I guess if you want we can debate what is and what is not terrorism. To me, genocide is setting out to wipe out a group of people from the earth. I don't think terror is really that big of a goal to that end. Hitler wanted to wipe Jews completely out. So to me, that wouldn't qualify as terrorism. It's a completely different motive.

Slavery is driven by money and commerce.

But I don't know... the FBI has a pretty loose definition of terrorism so I guess it's all subjective.

https://www.fbi.gov/investigate/terrorism

Terrorism Definitions
International terrorism: Violent, criminal acts committed by individuals and/or groups who are inspired by, or associated with, designated foreign terrorist organizations or nations (state-sponsored).

Domestic terrorism: Violent, criminal acts committed by individuals and/or groups to further ideological goals stemming from domestic influences, such as those of a political, religious, social, racial, or environmental nature.

Ok.
I'm not forgetting 9-11, also done by white guys.
If you doubt me, ask the FBI. That's where I got my info. Do you know more than the FBI about terrorism?

Another mass shooting

It’s not guns it’s the people who shoot them who are fucked up.

So let’s make sure they are allowed to have guns cuz america and the second amendment derp derp

We should make it very hard to get a gun. Only the best of the best and qualified citizens should be allowed to own them after various background checks and psychological tests.

Increase the incarceration and penalties for having illegal guns. Mandatory minimums would be good.

Death penalty is automatic for any mass shooter. No appeals and a fast track conviction and execution.

100%

I'm against the death penalty or extreme punishment.

I hope the above post doesn’t upset someone enough to turn me into my employer. This opinion in no way reflects that of the Trail Blazers, the NBA, Adam Silver or James Naismith.
