I keep hearing Harden's name thrown around but honestly, they're not giving MVP to a guy whose team is barely hanging on to the 4 seed. To me, the 4 legit candidates right now are Curry, Aldridge, Lillard, and Lowry. The second tier is M Gasol, Butler, and Wall. Then Harden, Teague, etc.

As much endorsement love as Lillard is getting, Curry appears to be the current media darling ("Best shooter in the league!" "No offensive weaknesses!!" "Fastest release EVAR!!1!1!"). If the W's hold on to the top record in the West, Curry's getting the MVP.

If the Cavs get it truly turned around and finish 1-2 in the East LeBron will win it.

Besides that the list is:

1. Curry
2. Harden
3. Davis
4. Griffin

No Blazer will get close unfortunately.

How is Griffin ahead of Aldridge? The Clippers are awful.

What if the Blazers get the top record? We're only a half game behind them.

The race is between aldridge and lillard, I hope they really push eachother to greatness.

Westbrook is going to get some talk if the Thunder climb into the playoff standings. Thunder are only 4 games back of the Spurs, and Westbrook is putting up insane numbers at the moment.

I don't care about regular season MVP, as long as a Blazer wins Finals MVP.

Yes, I'd rather both Aldridge and Lillard feel disrespected about being left out of the conversation, then finish one-two in the voting for finals MVP.

Someone needs to tell Lillard he'll never be 2015 Finals MVP... he'll make sure it happens!

Like him or not, Harden is playing at an MVP type level to this point.

Fans don't vote. Media usually votes for best player on best team.

Which is why I think even Curry is a long-shot. Not enough name recognition. The winner will be from a large market or a huge name like KD or D-Rose. Fringe stars hardly ever win MVPs, no matter how hard they dominate.

You are so wrong on this. The media LOVES Curry. Not saying he'll win it, but he's absolutely a big enough star to take it. Also, he does play in a large market.

Well yeah! He's the #1 fan vote getter, so he must be highly marketable

Fans don't matter. If Aldridge deserves it, he'll get it. Honestly, right now, I think it's Curry, Dame, Lowry, or LA. I would vote for those 4 plus Wall or Marc Gasol.

If we can finish the season with the best record, I can't see how one of ours doesn't win it

Don't care much about this as long as Lillard wins finals MVP

KD is from a small market and he is a name because he plays well. Aldridge and Lillard are becoming names.

I don't know how the voting works but is it possible that in that case, Lillard and Aldridge could split the Blazers vote, taking votes away from each other, and so someone else gets the award?

This is exactly what would happen imo. Someone from the 2nd or 3rd place team would win the award imo.

Jimmy Butler just won EC player of the week. He also won player of the month previously.

He absolutely belongs in the MVP discussion, as well as MIP (MIP is a slam dunk).

Not only will he get votes for DPOY, he's currently averaging 22.2 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 3.2 APG, 1.6 SPG with a 22.8 PER - all numbers worthy of MVP consideration.
