Terry isn't all that great at in-game adjustments but he rocks it in between games. Putting Harkless on Klay for Game #2 might be obvious to us but that doesn't make it any less of a great move by Stotts.

With that said, what is the next adjustment you would make?

There are probably a few but the one that sticks out to me the most is that I would have Dame play more off the ball and let CJ bring the ball up and initiate the offense more. Basically switch their roles. Have Dame play SG and CJ play PG (just) for this series.

What do you say? A defensive adjustment perhaps? A lineup change maybe?

I wouldn't go too crazy personally. I mean we probably should have won this last game but little tweaks could help.

Get Plumlee to take the ball to the rim with some authority, to score or get fouled. Almost every time last night he'd already know he was going to pass the ball when he left his feet, get hit with the body, then toss a bad pass.

Every time Plumlee touched the ball last night I'd say nooooo - Knowing he was going to have a turnover. None were forced. He was careless.

Seemed to me that the game plan was a real solid one. Our team is just not as talented as their team is.......Even without Curry. If you look at it honestly, if the two teams played 10 times, they'd probably win 8 or 9 times. This season shows that with Portland winning 1 time out of 5. Injuries can happen, and we could win the series like with the Clippers, and if so, then great.

My advice would be to do the same thing we did in game 2. They will probably adjust though, and so playing a legal box in one, assuming Curry is still out, is probably the best defense. Honestly, the best thing to do is probably send Vonleh in the game and try to draw an ejection on Green.

I agree with MM about trying Vonleh on defending Green. We need to control the boards like we can...get more second chance buckets

Green could use a ref as heavy bag and they still wouldn't throw him out.

Green sure does get torqued out when a call doesn't go his way. How he doesn't get T'd up is a mystery to me.

And I'd like to see see how Vonleh might defend him, although that might be an if all else fails move. Which, frankly, all else will fail so why not?

It's interesting because Chris Paul or Griffin would complain, but they wouldn't charge at the ref and scream in his face. Draymond has a serious issue with his temper.

I know. Are they afraid of him, or what?

  • Don't pull Dame in the 4th when you have a chance for a knockout punch.
  • If they start to trap to deny ball to Dame or CJ, we need to instantly start running Mason Plumlee to the top of the key or elbow so that he can distribute to whoever is on the baseline. We have to make them pay for trying to take the ball out of Dame's hands. Mason needs to avoid charging to the rim.
  • You have to expect Steph is playing game 3 (but I personally would hold him out until game 4). I would personally figure Steph and Klay are going to get theirs and just keep trying to push them off their spots and would not resort to the double on them. I might try to run through the screens more though and hope the call goes our way a few times. I think that the NBA would like to see a few more games in this series, so maybe they will call some of those plays in our favor.
  • Might need to expand the rotation to keep throwing different defenders at Green. Someone needs to step up if Harkless gets in foul trouble.
  • Someone needs to box out Bogut. If Mase is going for the board and not boxing out his guy you kind of need someone like Davis to try to keep Bogut off the boards.

Green probably avoids saying any of the "magic words." Referees are used to complaining and barking--but cursing them out or insulting them generally draws an immediate technical.

I don't get the sense that Green has "temper issues," in the way that Rasheed Wallace did. Wallace got out of control--Green seems to me like he's always in control and he does a lot of what he does for effect.

Green has his act down just like the chainsaw juggler in Venice Beach...he's put together a hell 0f a show. I don't think he's got a huge temper...he talks like Chris Rock

I said it somewhere else. Green and their midsize guys are beefy compared to ours, but Vonleh has the beef to bounce hips right back I think. Good call.

I'm not sure Stott's need make any adjustments, other than stay on top of who's hot and who's not and when someone is hot, leave him in the game *cough*Dame at the end of the third*cough*.

Other than that, the biggest adjustments have already been made. Blazers will win Game three because of the energy in the Moda. We will win game four because I will be there. We will win game 5 down there after beating them twice and almost 3 times in a row, giving us confidence. And then we will close them out next Friday night here, again... because I will be there.

Call Guinness. It's in the books ;)

Have the Blazers watch game 2 over and over and over....have a practice
...then have them watch game 2 over and over and over...repeat till saturday

I'm moving from Buffalo Trace to Maker's Mark, and Glenmorangie to Oban.
Normally, I wear my Blazer underwear only, with one boot on the left foot and one on the TV. I may change feet. I also may invert my Blazer blanket and alter the pinwheel direction.

Adjustments?

Stotts is too stubborn to change his defense, and there is nothing they can do differently on offense given the tools Olshey has given him.

Let lilard hoist up all the shots. What's he got to lose...they playing with house money..

Get them to switch Curry onto CJ, and have CJ BREAK HIS ANKLES.

Metaphorically speaking of course.
