On a fun note, my daughter was told by her school counselor that she probably shouldn't waste her time applying for a lot of grants and scholarships because she wasn't black or Hispanic. She was told the only thing she has going for her is her grades, 2000+ SAT score and that she is a female.

That is rooted more in your daughters counselor than anything to do with reality. There are tons of scholarships still available for your daughter, or white people in general. FAFSA still exists, as do pell grants, and scholarships.

I agree with this.

MM don't let that counselor stop your daughter for applying for grants and scholarships. (That is just terrible advise from a counselor) There are more out there than people realize and many "white people" receive financial help from partial scholarships.
