Timber fans can be just as bad, especially with their entitlement about their connection with the team. I'm sure the owner of the Timbers has one of those "can't live with them, can't live without them" relationships with the Timbers Army, but it's still nothing like what Seattle does with the 12th man.

it's extremely smart of the Seattle franchise. They have an extremely loud and rabid fan base. And they build on that. Trying to knock them for it just seems comical.

That's not what Paul Allen, Pete Carroll or Richard Sherman said hoisting the trophy. It's not what Berman just brought up on NFL Primetime. It's saying that the fans are a defined and appreciated part of the team, and affect the game on the field in tangible ways (false starts, delays of game). It's given by the team to the fans--who do you think picks the people who raise the flags, encourages the jersey sales, feed into things like "world record noise levels", etc?

I'm not saying it's not gimmicky, but it's not solely the Hawks fans. This isn't an organic, bottom-up "save our sonics" thing, it's given by, encouraged by and acknowledged by the team. :dunno:

Yup. The same rabid fanbase that just threw food on a guy who destroyed his knee on the football field.

Sooo... that sherman interview was funny. Erin Andrews is like "This guy is  "

I'd like to think Blazer fans would never do something like that, and since they don't tailgate outside the arena drinking for hours, i doubt that would happen.

a) allegedly. Even if so...
b) one guy, and...
c) denouced by every Seahawk fan on here

A few people. Come on Nate. As an Oregon fan, do I include you into the group harassing the Love family? Or in that instance is it just a few random people, not indicative of the fan base as a whole? Did 70,000 people pelt the guy with food? Have you seen video of the instance? Or did you find the one tweet? I've seen some Blazer fans act like complete assholes to visiting fans at our arena. I don't think it represnets me or you. But keep reaching.

Come on man.... do you really think heckling is the same as throwing food on a severely injured player? Now THAT'S reaching.

I think they work the fans up into a furor and then shit like this happens.

back to the football--watching the ESPN highlights, the Chancellor pick was actually diagrammed by Jaworski in Countdown this morning.

one fan throws.....who knows what, let's say skittles, and one fan calls someone's grandmother a whore. Yeah. I think those are actually pretty comparable and terribly shitty. Is the thrown hotdog or whatever going to hurt him? No.

If the game was in Florida the 49'rs could have shot those fans.

Guys, guys, guys, let's all calm down and listen to some creepy weaboo music

I guess we look at those things in very different ways. Calling some old lady a whore is really bad, and classless, but not even close to the same thing as throwing food at a guy who just had his knee bend in a direction that it was never meant to bend.

Duck fans have a tendency to boo injured players because they think they're faking to slow down their offense. I guess if you want to compare something to what Seattle fans did, that would be a better direction to go.

Kaepernick just said he threw the last ball "I had 1-on-1 matchup with Crab, I'll take that every time."

Reporter: "Even against Sherman?!"

Kaep: "Against anyone."

It obviously wasn't a 1-on-1 matchup..... because the other guy standing there picked the ball.

then you're part of a shit classless fan base who prides themselves on having a loud home field. Pat yourself on the back. I dunno. They have a great home field advantage, and they feed back into it.

I dunno how there's a huge difference in class in a person who throws food at an NFL player who hurt his knee, and a person who calls an old woman a whore. If there's a difference, it's small. I dunno how you're differentiating other than being a 49ers fan and not liking the Seahawks.

Nah, it was...I haven't broken it down, but from the couple of replays it looked like Smith had "under" responsibilities and followed the fade after the ball was thrown. When he threw it, Kaepernick had 1-v-1 w/Sherman on Crabtree

Yeah, you're clearly right. Calling some old lady a whore and hurting her feelings for 15 minutes is the same thing as throwing food at a guy who will have to spend the next year rehabbing from a major knee injury that might rob him of his career. DEFINITELY the same thing.

the food hurt him the same amount the insult did. Gimme a fucking break Nate. The food throwing didn't cause the damn knee injury. Maybe instead if they called Bowman's grandmother a whore, you'd think it was an ok move ad feel some kinship with their fanbase?

Because once a few Seahawks fans did a bad thing and he doesn't like Seahawks fans, he is better than all Seahawks fans. No flaw in that logic, nope, none whatsoever.

Rip City encompasses the team, the city, the fanbase, everything about our team.

The 12th man is entirely about the fanbase. It's the Seahawk fans celebrating being seahawk fans. It has nothing to do with the team on the field.
Who cares? They aren't hurting anyone.
