For a couple years now he's been a meme.

'Oh no he dribbled again.'

But at the end of the day it's not always about offense.
His defense alone shows you why he's an NBA role player.
However when he's playing well offensively he really does put Portland at another level.

He might not be here next year, I'll enjoy having him while he's still here.

Plus, his voice doesn't match his looks. It always sounds like someone from Bad Lip Reading is doing a voice over when he gets interviewed.

I’ve always liked Aminu and I think we’ll re-sign him. On that note, it looks like we were very right to not re-sign Davis. Meyers and Zach are playing great. Second unit is better because they can shoot.

Wait, you made an appreciation thread and didn't even capitalize his name?

I think Aminu will be Ed Davised.

Those 2 late swish3s were great added to his excellent defense. Kudos to Chief!

I like Al-Farouq. I think he's a good value for what the Blazers are paying him. But I'm not sold on him being an 'elite' defender.

His Drtg is currently at a career low (low is good for this stat) of 102. That's good. But nowhere near elite. To put it in perspective, on average about 2 Blazers each season has a Drtg of 102 or lower.

What I do like about Al-Farouq this year is his ability to create points for the team. His Ortg is at an all-time high of 118. His previous career high was 107 back when he played for Dallas. He's not doing this by jacking up more shots (his Usg% is at a career low of 11.9%), but rather getting a lot of rebounds (career best 8.7/gm), shooting efficiently (0.500 eFg%), and keeping the turn-overs low (career best 0.5/gm).

I like this version of Al-Farouq. He's a solid role player. You know what you're getting from him each night.

He's hit some huge shots so far this year..he seems to make them when they count

The thing is Aminu in just about every match up is asked to play the other teams best player, which means he’s going to get scored on, I think what makes him an elite one on one defender is that whoever he guards has to work harder to get the ball up and is usually taking a contested shot, in this new nba I think thats all you can ask.
