This thread is for the one, the only, Al Sharpton. I recently watched the debate between him and former Imus In The Morning producer Bernard McGuirk tonight on FoxNews's Hannity & Colmes. My overall philosophy on Sharpton is that the guy should be pictured in the dictionary next to the word contradiction. He is always taking charge in some protest against a racially controversial incident when more often than not he is creating the controversy. He is also always contradicting himself, claiming he is a civil leader when he in the past has used racially insensitive slurs. A most notable incident of his slanted views on certain topics is Don Imus. He claims Imus deserved to be fired for his comments he made about the Rutgers Women's Basketball team. I really don't have a problem with that statement, Imus had no right to bash on a group of hard working colleigate athletes to make a cheap joke on his radio show. I might not neccesarily agree with it, but I can understand where people are coming from when they say they wanted him to be fired. What I do have a problem with is with the person that was spearheading the Imus-firing propaganda. That man was Al Sharpton. The same person who preaches christianity, the same person who has used plenty of racial slurs in his past and was forgiven. If a person who embraces christianity refuses to forgive someone over a mistake than that is just plain wrong. Sharpton has made plenty of insensitive remarks about his own race and people of other races yet he was continiously forgiven and he can be seen or heard all throughout areas of mass media. He is constantly contradicting himself. Although I personally do not like Sharpton; I have to give the guy credit. He is constantly putting himself in these ridiclous situations but he always is coming out of them with his head held high. In tonight's debate, he pretty much owned Bernard McGuirk. The guy knows how to critique statements and hold his own in a debate. As far as a public speaker and a debater goes, this guy has to be one of the best in the country. Although half of his views I find completely idiotic, I have to give credit where credit is due. The guy won't back don't from anyone and is able to twist and turn his away around any attack that is thrown at him. Anyone else have any thoughts on Al Sharpton? He has been a big media presence lately and has been rather controversial.
