If I were there, I'd cheer him. He gave the organization everything he had while he was here and was one of the best the organization has ever had, and now he's moved on, as have the Blazers. I think the way people are villainizing him is stupid. His crime from what I can tell is changing his mind and wanting to be closer to his family. I expect it will be the case, but I'll disappointed if most of the crowd boos him.

However, neither of these were LMA’s worst betrayal. His worst betrayal is also the proof of what his says in this article about when he decided to move on from the Blazers is a complete lie. His worst betrayal was giving up in the middle of the playoff games. You never quit on your team, never, especially in the playoffs.

Fact: LMA betrayed his own teammates trust.

If you need further proof that LMA had decided to leave long before informing NO on July 3, at 3 pm? He refused to fly home with the team after the playoff games. He had already mentally checked out from his teammates.

LMA has lied to and betrayed everyone involved with the Blazers organization. An now he is lying to us again in this article.

Opposing team intros are done with the lights on, right? If so, that might be a viable option.

Another, easier, option would be to throw marshmallows at him during his first trip to the free throw line. Find someone who's a season ticket holder in each section that surrounds the opposing team's 1st half basket - they can organize the Marsha Toss for their section. Bring several bags of Aldridges to the game, pass them out as people take their seats, and then when Marsh gets fouled and walks to the line - let 'em loose!

BTW, I think this should be a thing until the day he retires, similar to the octopus thrown on the ice at Red Wings games.

Unlike hockey, I think we'd get a "unsportsmanlike conduct" technical as a crowd if we did that.
 
Maybe it's just me, but there is almost this hollowness I feel as a Blazer fan that out greatest players never RETIRED as Blazers. Walton had his final hurrah with The Celtics. Drexler asked to be traded to Houston (still not over the day that, not kidding) where he won a title, and now LMA bolted. Almost ever major NBA franchise has a legend retire with them. LA has Magic and West, Boston has too many to list, even Utah has Stockton. I always get the feeling that when the Blazers retire a number the players are always just guests for the week. I guess I am saying that it would be nice to have have a guy who represents the Blazers as THE ONE. Hopefully, Lillard is that guy.
 
I just wish we could be a little more creative. Do something different. Booing everytime he touches the ball just makes us look lame. The only thing it accomplishes is inspiring his teammates to play that much harder for him. I am sure our players will cringe when they hear the boos.

I know it is impossible to do, but one time I would just like to hear dead silence when a player like him returns and is introduced. I would rather make him feel like we could care less about him, then letting him know how much he hurt us by leaving. I say don't cheer and don't boo. Give him what he gave us when he left.........the cold shoulder.
 
I think we'll chant Beat LA, ultimately. Yeah it's not great, but it's better than booing.

I agree. But it's far easier to organize action than inaction. Even if you were to organize a "silence", there are enough silly sallies (and Spurs fans) that all he'll hear is cheering in an otherwise oddly quiet arena.
I don't like the idea of booing - not because of his feelings, but because it (a) is what he expects, (b) can be used as motivation, and (c) validates the idea that we're upset by his departure.
That's why I think the Marsha Toss is the best option. It would also probably make it on ESPN.

I agree, but unfortunately that appears to be what we are. It could be nationally televised and we're just going to come across as butt-hurt, emotionally stunted idiots booing the guy every time he touches it while we lose by 25. He'll look good, we'll look bush-league. Or we cheer him and everyone praises Portland for being such a great and classy basketball city with amazing fans who deserve better.
 
I think his first time back we should hoist a number 12 jersey with a big X through it up to the rafters. Remind him of what he passed up.
