I think plain boos are too vanilla in this case.
I think Portland fans should chant: "Maaaarsha, Maaaaarsha, maaaarsha, maaarsha" in the most annoying repetitive voice possible.

It's the best kind of insult because: a. it's annoying as hell. b.He won't understand it for the first few minutes, but after that he'll be annoyed as fuck being called a female for so many times while he can't do anything about it. c. It's plain fun for the fans.
 
Maybe it's the pragmatic streak in me? But the way I see it, by bolting for greener pastures LaMarcus simply accelerated the Blazers' rebuild plan and kept them from spinning their wheels trying to convince themselves that they were "this close" to winning a title with LMA as its best player and a roster that was likely never going to be much more than an also-ran.

If anything I'll pour myself a nice tumbler of Bulleit and soda and drink a toast to the man when he's in town, just to say thanks.

What sad is that in 10 years the Blazers WILL retire Lamarcus 's jersey. It will be one of those three day love fests they have every once in a while. One of those "now that we are all old and retired" BS deals publicists love. They will show Aldridge hugging Lillard over and over again on the scoreboards. LMA'S championship ring on his finger. We are saps.

It's all good, man. I was mostly being a smart ass, but I was going to respond with the typical, 'F-ing rookie!" or something along those lines (or the whiny "Do we really need another thread on this?"). Figured I'd keep it simple.

Ah yes, because having a reputation for great and classy fans who deserve better has served us so well........or, wait, no it hasn't. Players like LA praise our fans while leaving them in the ditch. Fuck that guy.
 
I'm kind of indifferent. I liked having LA on the team. I appreciated having a player like LA that gave me confidence that the blazers could win any game they competed in, but I never really believed he could get the blazers "over the top", or whatever. Honestly, I don't know if I'd boo him or not, it'd probably just depend entirely on my mood. He might even get a golf clap off of me.

I totally agree with this - LMA leaving is way better than LMA staying. But the thing is, I always wanted to boo him / heckle him AS A BLAZER but couldn't bring myself to BECAUSE he was a Blazer (I've only heckled Derek Anderson AS a Blazer...maaaaybe Outlaw, but my memories are kinda fuzzy on that one). Now that public opinion has done a 180 - and he's no longer a Blazer - I finally get the chance to heckle the shit out of him. It's not because he left, it's just because I don't like him and he deserves to be heckled.

I think the way people are villainizing him is stupid. His crime from what I can tell is changing his mind and wanting to be closer to his family. I actually think Pops will sit him out on any road trip to Portland. He seems like a true understanding of the mentality of players. Knowing this, he knows Aldridge would fold

I don't know. People say it's not "cool" but I think Rob Manfred is doing a great job of changing the policies and the pace of the game. He doesn't get as much good press as Silver, but Manfred has done more in one year than Selig did in 10. Goodell is Satan as we all know.
 
Ok, being honest, at the end of the day it didn't bother me too much that Tex chose the Spurs. Despite the denial on some of our parts, it was a forgone conclusion. Which is the real problem. I didn't like the fake indecision and that we got left with nothing. Otherwise, whatever. He quite likely never gave two shits about Portland or Blazers fans. And I don't give two shits about him. I will neither boo nor cheer.

Let the reemergence begin!

OK reading through this thread I'm starting to re-think the booing thing. I was for booing. Not just booing but the kind of booing that rocks the RG. The booing that is done with such passion you can feel the emotions of how much Blazers fans hated his decision. But in the end probably won't get that and in a way doesn't that just give LA more street cred . . . the more and louder you boo the better player you were for that team. I could see the spurs all smiling giving props to LA who embraces his new team by smiling back.

Don't want to see applause as don't want to be a martyr and to hell with being classy, this is a sporting event not a business dinner.

I really like the idea of a chant and wondering if that can be organized (throwing marshmallows will get you kicked out and possibly charged with something).

In the end I will probably end up booing being frustrated there is no other way to voice my displeasure with his choice . . . but it is very predictable and kind of lame.

(Note: I'm free to change my mind again given how neurotic Aldridge has made me this summer)
