RT @PDXjay: LaMarcus Aldridge had an MRI on his left knee today. Results negative. Still experiencing some soreness but will play Tuesday.

thats what playing 40 minutes a night does all year

Also Wallace says intensity in west different from east. no shit gerald.

Rudy has the flu and was sent home.

And people didn't believe Aldridge was playing too many minutes, lol. Those people are fools. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that the body wears down after a while and is more susceptible to injury. The Blazers really need to get it under control.

As far as Wallace's comments, lol. They played the Hawks who are in the EC.

Yeah, he needs time off desperately. If only one other player on the team could score.

Wallace kinda wandered around out there during the first half... can players get away with that in the EC? He looked like a d-league player out there.

Wonder if wallace was talking about how intense the practice was or something.

Who are these straw men you are referring to? I don't know anybody on this board that has stepped up to support the position that Aldridge isn't playing too much.

I'd say it's more likely he was talking about the crowd. I mean, how many other arenas in the NBA does the crowd shout, "Get a rope" when the refs do their 3 blind mice routine? ;)

RT @BlazerFreeman: I asked Coach Mac if he planned to start Gerald Wallace against the Rockets and he did not rule it out.

Who said that LMA should be playing 50 minutes/game? Was it necessary to win the Denver game? Probably. Do you think anybody wanted him to play over 50 minutes?

Actually STOMP did.

Aldridge clearly needs more minutes. Pain is the sensation of weakness leaving your body.

yeah I did. I listed several examples of recent players who've played similar type minutes far longer to what LA has lately... no one felt like responding to those. There are many many more examples of this.

Any FOOL feel like responding to these examples?

I'm not really arguing with you. I tend to agree with you to a degree on this topic. I was just letting him know that people have argued that.

I know... though you were quoted, it's not you that I was responding to (click FOOL for a hint)

Oh, I see. I can play this game.

People say Greg Oden is too big and big guys can't stay healthy.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/chambwi01.html

See, big guys can stay healthy, so that's not part of the problem.

Terrible argument.

Aldridge is averaging 42min a game this month and played 100 minutes combined over a 2 game span. If you think that's completely normal than you're delusional. The body wears down when it's pushed and pushed and pushed and leaves it more susceptible to injury. This is basic common sense.

Continue with your failed logic if you must. I've said enough about this.

thanks for addressing none of my examples of all time greats who played far far more minutes then LA. I could list literally hundreds of other examples of NBA players who've enjoyed long careers while averaging 40 MPG over several years. I could also list hundreds of examples of guys who didn't play big minutes who broke down. Health is somewhat a combo crapshoot of good genetics and luck.

There is nothing wrong with riding a guy who is going well. If someone sustains a ding, like LA did last night, probably time to take a step back and assess matters but if everything seems fine in a day or two I'm for big minutes again. You're ducking out because history has shown your argument is stupid and you're just calling me empty names. Run away silly poster

So I take it that you give no credence to the notion of pitch counts, innings restrictions, or the value of 5-days-rest for starting pitchers in baseball because hundreds of pitchers in the past were successful with less restrictive handling?

Lmao. So you would continue to do what probably led to the minor injury after you escaped the bullet the first time?

What color is the sky in your world?

Nice post. Repped.

I just don't understand what people don't get about overworked players are more susceptible to injury. It's common sense.

And it's not like there haven't been signs. Not only has Aldridge said he's been dead tired in multiple games but it wasn't long ago he had to get a MRI on his hip. No we're here again with a MRI on his knee.

With both of these being non-contact the only thing that's really left is wear and tear.

edit - and Aldridge plays a hard 42min as well. Between sprinting up the court almost every position and banging against another 250LB player all game there's a lot there that takes a lot out of him. The guy takes a pounding every game.

Are KG Duncan and Jordan from a different era then LA? Your comparison doesn't hold water

Why don't you start posting some data or stats to back up your stance instead of name-calling and trying to use the "it's common sense" argument.

Aldridge hasn't had two MRI's in the past month or so and he has said he's dead tired multiple times. He had one tweet that said he just woke up and that his body felt like it had been "run over by a car".

Sorry, but yes, common sense applies here. Shame you don't have any.

Clearly you haven't trained for a high level athletically. Elite athletes train and compete at a high level multiple times a day. Of course he is tired. Common sense applies here.

I'm not saying LA shouldn't get more rest, but you can't produce any data to back up your argument, yet you are quick to attack posters.

Jordan is, as is Chamberlain (whose stats you also posted). Jordan was also a perimeter player, so using him is a flawed comparison anyway. Duncan hasn't averaged 40 mpg in nearly a decade, and it should be noted that after 3 seasons of 38+ mpg, he began to miss games (under 70 games the next two seasons) and have his minutes reduced. Kevin Garnett is the only example you provided that really supports your position, and he is widely considered a physical freak.

Finally, Aldridge not only averaged over 40 mpg in January, but has averaged 42 mpg in February, which is higher than any of the last-3-decades examples you gave. I can name one post player who averaged 42+ mpg over a season in the past 30 years. It isn't done anymore because the game has changed from the days when that was common.

First part of your post is pointless.

Two MRI's and Aldridge saying he's dead tired isn't enough for you? What exactly are you waiting for to start dialing back his minutes? Wait until he's forced to sit out and then say "oh, maybe there's a problem here"?

It's not fucking rocket science. Some you people I swear.....

you'd really have any issue with Aldridge's career arc with going similarly to Duncan's??? Seriously? I've looked back at his yearly stats like 4 times now and just can't believe you think you've got any argument. I'm fine with stepping LA's minutes down as he gets older, but Timmy did average over 5 more MPG then LA his first 5 seasons and was always the primary focus of his team's offense. Pretty sure that this year (just like the first 4) LA will still average less minutes then TD did in his 5th season when both were/are 25. It also bears mention that Timmy played 4 years of big time college ball to LA's 2.

want to make me a bet worth my time digging through stats on whether I can find a month of play from one of my examples where they averaged at least 42 minutes?

Awwww. You can't produce anything to back up your position, and you're so mad. :smiley-bigcry:
