John Wall and LaMarcus Aldridge named Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, NBA announces.

Re: LMA NBA Player of the Week

It's cool. I beat you by all of like 20 seconds.

LaMarcus Aldridge wins Western Conference Players of the Week. It's the fourth time n his career he has won the honor.

Good for him. that 30/20 performance to rally the team probably sealed the deal.

Anyone else notice this little incorrect gem in the Oregonian's recap of the Blazer-Warriors game?

"Notes: Aldridge got the seventh game by a Portland player of at least 30 points and 20 rebounds. He had the last, getting 33 points and 23 rebounds at Toronto on Jan. 20, 2012. ... "

I'm pretty certain Aldridge dropped 30 and 20 on the Warriors the last time they played (final game of last season, in the final game as the "Rose Garden").

Pish...Reason number 729 why I dont even bother with the Oregonian in print or online. Even free its a terrible pos paper

I hope someone mentions to Lillard the gauntlet has officially been thrown.

Just a little healthy competition. Meaning, now it's time for Dame to match the accomplishment.

Competiting in practice is fine. But in games, the only opponent should be the team we are facing. I don't want Lillard and Aldridge competiting with each other.

I'm thinking he's saying LA has elevated his game, and taken it to a new level, and he'd like to see Dame do the same. LA is arguably the best PF in the game; Dame, while a young star, has plenty of room to grow and improve upon. If Dame takes his game to a new level, Portland would be pretty damn lethal.

Boy that really surprises me.

He did not shoot at all well vs Chicago. I figured that right there would be enough to keep him from winning

Definitely.

He got the award for the single game against Aldridge. If there hadn't been the ejections and he didn't have that big of a game, Matthews might've won the award.

I kinda think the 30 & 20 on Saturday were the deciding stats.

I like Joe Freeman. He's a dork, and I was sad when he decided to slick his hair back, clean up his facial hair, and dawn a tie to become a full fledged Blazer beat writer. But, I still enjoy reading his stuff.

It's called player of the week though, not player of the game

Well that's good because for last week, with exception of chicago's game, he did very well. And even in the Chicago game, he got boards and points. It's the end result that gives praise!

I'm not saying it's not deserved. I am saying I'm surprised because the game vs Chicago was not that great 12/6 on 4 of 20

Thank you for saving me the trouble of having to explain to KS what should have been obvious.

Winning games, and who they were against, plays a significant role in any voting be it player-of-the-week, All-Star, or MVP.

"[Lopez] is gonna help me take my game to the next level." - LA

Any doubters still out there? There's lots of room on the L-Train express.

So, lemme get this straight........ You enjoy reading his stuff, but you were disappointed when he got an opportunity to produce more stuff for you to read?

I totally agree on the cleaning up his look, though. Totally disappointed me, too. :devilwink:
