Aldridge reflecting

That last bit about bringing Greg along more slowly, doesn't bode well.

I see his point. But he was the 3rd option and for good reason. When you have potentially 3 all-stars, someone has to be the first option, someone the second... But in the end they all get their touches.

This is not the mental make-up of a winner - it's that of a whiner. He's now probably upset at having to play with Damian and Nic. And still hasn't developed any sort of symbiotic game with any of his teammates.

...I can see this being somewhat truthful, Aldridge has always seemed a bit lackadaisical to me -- hopefully Damian's winning attitude will wear off on him!

When Oden was drafted, did any Blazer fan think that LMA would be the only one playing at an All-Star level, let alone being the only one playing right now?

What a weird ride it's been for LMA, and he's been a rock throughout it.

Yeah, I think Aldridge doesn't have the kill instinct. (not that I have it myself) but it is needed even for leadership. I think Aldridge seems reclusive.

It's fun when I read your statements being dead on accurate!

This sounds like much ado about nothing.

Aldridge will always be Robin to a Batman. I've accepted this 4 years ago. I never assumed that Aldridge could ever be a #1 on a team.

Doesn't mean we don't need Aldridge though. The guy is still demanding doubles and his post game is improving every year. We need him to be successful

PAPA G'S A WITCH!

seriously though, how many "batman's" are there in the league?

There are only 10 guys in the league that score more PPG than him (a good general indicator for one being "the man" on a particular team).

Sometimes the Batman doesn't mean the high scorer. Magic was the Batman in L.A. but Kareem was always the top scorer on the team.

So Kareem Abdul Jabaar, the leading scorer in NBA history and one of the most dominating big men ever........is "robin"?

Sounds rather introspective and, gasp, mature of LMA. He has experienced a lot in his time in Portland, and he's managed to do it without freaking out like pretty much every poster on this board has at least one time over the last 6 years, myself definitely included. I remember people being pissed at him for wanting a decent contract, and then clobbering him for being overpaid. Yet, he's produced, and those criticisms have sunk into the memory hole, only to be replaced by new criticisms.

WE NEED ALDRIDGE TO BECOME A SELFISH BALLHOG ON OFFENSE THAT WANTS TO DOMINATE THE GAMES DAMMIT! :MARIS61:

I don't care what sort of religion someone practices as long as they don't try to push it onto others.

So stop trying to push your Anti-Aldridgeism off on us, for Pete's sake.

Exactly. Fuck efficiency. Fuck the team. Fuck Lillard and Batum. The better they look the worse he'll look. He needs to freeze them out. Wait, He needs someone to pass him the ball to do that. Nevermind.

Lillard is a Batman. Roy was a Batman

I agree. I think the team found their star, and LMA is going to be a great All-Star piece to go alongside him. Improve the bench and get a defensive center, or allow Leonard to become one, and this team is still in 4-year window to compete. Anything less than the playoffs next year, barring major injury, would be a set back, though.

That's my impression as well. The team is fine with the big 3 we have. Just have to beef up the middle and upgrade the bench. There really is a sickness on this board about bitching about any player on the team who isn't the best in the league at their position. And I'm sick of the 'batman' 'robin' analogy. It's so fucking tired.

LA, reflecting on what he could have done in his career if he wasn't such a Bambi.

The comic book editor who had the guts to kill Robin--we need to make him our GM.

guards/wings who can make plays off the dribble for themselves and teammates/direct the offense are Batman, while pretty much all Bigs are Robin.

Tim Duncan, Karl Malone, Shaq... all Robins.

STOMP

Wow, I really don't agree with those names being Robins

Robin wouldn't choke on a game tying shot. With that said though, clearly LMA is a star, and maybe all he needs is some mental toughening up to be a championship caliber player. I don't know if that can be learned.

Did you see the game where Aldridge hit a three then had the go ahead basket for the win against Dallas? How many batmans miss game tying shots to end the game? I can name hundreds. If we are doing the "what have you done for me lately", then Kobe is the worst batman to ever play the game. He's missed many game tying shots throughout his career.

P.s. I am not saying Aldridge is batman, btw. I am just using a batman that has missed as much as the next guy.
