Alex Jones concedes Sandy Hook attack was ’100% real’

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones testified Wednesday that he now understands it was irresponsible of him to declare the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre a hoax and that he now believes it was “100% real.”

Speaking a day after the parents of a 6-year-old boy who was killed in the 2012 attack testified about the suffering, death threats and harassment they’ve endured because of what Jones has trumpeted on his media platforms, the Infowars host told a Texas courtroom that he definitely thinks the attack happened.

“Especially since I’ve met the parents. It’s 100% real,” Jones said at his trial to determine how much he and his media company, Free Speech Systems, owe for defaming Neil Heslin and Scarlett Lewis. Their son Jesse Lewis was among the 20 students and six educators who were killed in the attack in Newtown, Connecticut, which was the deadliest school shooting in American history.

But Heslin and Lewis said Tuesday that an apology wouldn’t suffice and that Jones needed to be held accountable for repeatedly spreading falsehoods about the attack. They are seeking at least $150 million.

Jones told the jury that any compensation above $2 million “will sink us,” but added: “Ï think it’s appropriate for whatever you decide what you want to do.”

People on the far right like him think they can just say something is fact or true because they "believe it is" and that makes it so. Refreshing to see a judge call him out on his bullshit.
 
If you watch on YouTube and read comments you’ll get sick. SOOO many people love him and think he’s getting a raw deal.
 
There has to be some accountability for people posting whatever the hell they want on the internet. Or the news. At this point, I feel like there should be a required warning before airing something that explains it is now strictly entertainment and not actually journalism.
 
His attorney compared him to persecuted Jews under Nazism.

Wouldn't be surpised. Jones is so unhinged and obviously doesn't surround himself with people who are smarter than him (i.e. he's a fucking idiot), but like they said at the last J6 hearing: "the dam is about to break".

It's only a matter of time.
 
I'm so sick of big money keeping these assholes out of jail. If any regular working stiff did and said what this piece of shit has they'd be in debt for life and behind bars already....throw away the key ...
 
The defense filed an emergency of protection regarding Alex Jones' attorney F. Andino Reynal accidentally sending Jones' cellphone record to plaintiffs' attorney Mark Bankston. The defense asked for a mistrial but was denied.

This dude is going to be famous for a long time in legal circles. I'm sure terms like "The Reynal Defense" and "You just got Reynaled" will be known.
