The only way i can see this working is if once Blazers know for sure they are getting Aldridge, they trade Hood, Kanter and Trent for Gordon. Aldridge would be the backup center then. That trade also is about the only way to keep Jones.

Question - at this point in their careers would you rather have Kanter or LMA?

Hard to argue with 11.6 vs 4.5 (Rebounds)

Aldridge doesn’t spend all his time under the basket. Hard to grab rebounds when youre spacing the court. Put him in Kanters role and his rebounding numbers will be fine.

Aldridge is a better passer, shooter, and defender. Teams would also defend different if he’s picking and popping off dame, something that isn’t even an option with Kanter since he’s useless outside five feet of the basket.

He does not like to play Kanter's role. He does not like to bang under the boards. He does not like to mix it up. It is no coincidence that statistically speaking his best years for rebounding was when he had Robin Lopez alongside him doing the dirty work. For this team, I think Kanter is more valuable than LMA because we need rebounders.

I didn’t say he did. I said his rebounding numbers are skewed because of his role. And him opening up the offense is more valuable than a few extra boards, especially since Kanter is so bad defensively that he’s unplayable against a lot of teams.

Same can be said about LMA

this year maybe, but last year he graded out much better than Kanter. I just don’t believe that the drop within a year is physical. With Kanter this is who he’s always been.

Now that LeBron is hurt Lakers are like

Yeh, I would rather have Kanter, but Aldridge is one of those guys who might get inspired again, plus it makes it possible to be able to trade for Gordon without giving up Jones. I don't bring Aldridge in unless I know Kanter is going out; that would be too crowded and toxic.

TWO moves?? Are you nuts? Olshey can’t multitask like that.

But seriously, yeah, that would make sense. We can/should sign LA and still make a trade.

Nah. He'd have to change it to LaRry to count and I don't even know how you'd pronounce that; La Urry?

His name technically starts with La....

now that would be really special...to spend weeks talking about John Collins and Gordon and Rondo and Lonzo and Ariza and others...then be left with what's left of Aldridge as the last option...then have him spurn the Blazers and sign with somebody else....then have to listen to Olshey do his tap-dance

life of a Blazer fan

Sounds like that's what we are looking at

Well this just guarantees that LA won't win the championship. Aldridge is the kiss of the death. He ended the Spurs dynasty and now he can go end LeBrons

Well - learn to have low expectations and you won't be disappointed!
