I think he'll sign with the Clippers. They're the team where he could earn the most minutes during a championship run.

how? They have Batum, Ibaka, Morris, and Zubac at the 4/5.

by your logic Anfernee Simons is also a better rebounder than Brook Lopez.
What do you envision him offering that betters our team over what we currently have, and over who?

I mean I already wrote it out a few posts up. I think he’s an upgrade over Kanter, especially in the playoffs.

outside of the on court stuff, i don't think he'd be a good culture fit.

how many stories did we read about how relieved some people were that he left back in 2015? People were walking on eggshells around him. Even if Dame has mended fences, I dunno how the coaching staff feels. With Nurk back, we really have no use for him, and he'd make a fuss about not starting.

Let him go to Boston.

While I'm not particularly married to bringing back Aldridge, I don't think that's a reason not to bring him in. No one would be walking on eggshells around him now. Back then, it was "his team." He set the culture, people had to care how he felt. Now, he'll just be a role-player...if he gets upset about something, no one's going to care but him. It's a massive difference, how much influence he has in the locker room.

Kudos to @calvin natt ! Isn't this the first time in our history here that a poster actually got a real scoop, and ahead of Woz! I just wish we had someone inside the Blazers!

ESPN once picked up a story about NateBishop and Oden playing hoops from this very board. Or was it BBF?

Ok, so let's say you replace Kanter with LMA. Do you think LMA is okay with playing 18 minutes per game as a backup?

He would have to be. Unless Covington gets hurt.

Blake & Nurk
Are you aware of Blake’s shooting percentages the last two seasons? We’re talking 35%-ish. It’s bad. Melo is waaaayyyyyy better than Griffin.
I would say better comparison might be Blazers version of Juwan Howard.
That Juwan was pretty good actually. Everyone was hurt and he kept us going. I think we won 50 games that season despite everyone including the coach needing surgery.

Aldridge’s rebounding has always been awful except when RoLo boxed out for him. And rebounding is Kanter’s biggest strength. If we had both, they would have vastly different roles. Olshey’s not trading Kanter. But if he can get Aldridge for the vet min...

I think Stotts gets a stiffy thinking about having a C who can drain 3s at 36%

Dame
CJ
Trent
RoCo
LA

Bombs Away.

My thoughts are that if Aldridge wants to be here and it comes in at the veteran's minimum after a buy-out, then they should bring him in. He still has useful skills that the team could use off the bench. This wouldn't be a hostile take-over...he has to want to sign here and presumably he'd talk to the Blazers about what his role would be before committing.

You guys are totally missing the point on this!

The Spurs are going to trade Aldridge and end up with 3 2nd round draft picks and a bag of potato chips.

And 4 championships in 10 years later all three of those draft picks AND the bag of potato chips are going to be in the HOF.

This explains why Ruffles have Ridges.....! second round draft? I didn't even get a beer on the first round!

Spite of who? Has to be Olshey because Aldridge was EXTREMELY clear to everyone in the organization that he was not coming back. They chose to let him walk instead of trading him
Lamarcus led Paul & Neil on that he would resign. Thats cool its his right but I would have traded him early on when he still had value. Im not for him coming back Id rather go with a younger more mobile 3/4/5

when the chips were down, that team had no quit in them.

He still left. And wasted years of contention with Peak Aldridge and Dame. He didn't want to be here then, I don't want him here now.

Glad the spurs didn't work and he won't get his jersey retired anywhere now

The guy needed to expand his wings and sure his eagle wanted the red carpet tour at the time. Like a little kid growing up in a little town, they have dreams of the big city or big market or something different. I really don’t blame him for wanting to expand and or see what was out there.

Don’t blame him one bit unless he joins the Lakers haha!

If he still had the talent that would help us win this year then I would probably welcome him back with open arms.
But I just don't think he does...so I am with you.

LMA would not want to come here and sit on the bench. If Nurk is truly coming back then LMA would be 3rd string center...unless you all think he can guard the perimeter at PF. Not saying Melo can but LMA can't spread the floor as Melo does off the bench.

Of course, if either Nurk or Kanter gets hurt in the next few weeks then I will regret not signing him. We do need a 3rd center

My hunch is obviously ring chasing, since thats what players do now, or, even more Lamarcus, he goes to crap team and puts up numbers and starts, to finish off career.

This is a long-standing belief that I 100% do not believe myself. I think *know* that LMA let it be very clearly known that he wanted to leave, and go to a team in Texas. Whether there were rumors or miscommunications, I have no idea. But LMA told them what he wanted, and then ended up doing it.

isn't it funny how the narrative around him changed since we acquired him? He was always this quiet, reclusive dude who developed into an all star while just doing his job on the court without any noise. But the longer his career has gone on, the more of his ego has shined through. First with Broy/Oden, then with Dame, then with Pop (he had asked for a trade a few years back because he hated their team-oriented system, and wanted out until Pop convinced him back), and now again with the Spurs with Pop having to massage his ego in the quotes yesterday.
