I was going to start a thread on this, but Sports Illustrated also projects the Ducks into the field of 68 as a 12 or 13 seed. If Altman can do that with 8 new players, I say give the man a lifetime contract!

They got a kid named Jeff Taylor who's a stud SF. Maybe the best defensive wing in the nation. Jenkins is a lights out shooter. They also have Oregon City's own Brad Tinsley as a Senior PG this year. Veteran team, Oregon might be in trouble.

I'll be watching my Zags play EWU. But, checking up on the Ducks periodically. Glad college b-ball is underway!

Too much Commodores. Jenkins hit 7 treys and Taylor showed why he's going to be an All-American. Whats your take MediogreMan?

It's all about ball control. I think someone in the ESPN comments said it best.

you guys only cause 8-9 turnovers while committing 19 yourself. Looked like the press took more outta you then it did vandy
We shot 9% better from the field than they did, but had, what, 20 fewer scoring opps? (-12 on turnovers, -8 on offensive rebounds) Tough to win a game that way.

Good showing by the young Ducks

Better FT shooting, and this might have been different

You didnt watch the game then. It was a blowout. 20 points down for a large chunk of the game. A late little run at the end made it look closer than it actually was.

I watched the entire game. Oregon kept it close for a half, and then got blown out in the second half. They did get it to within 6-7 with a lot of time left in the game. Had they hit the front end of 1 and 1's late in the second half, they could have pulled it out with some breaks

Ahhhhh, the unpredictability of early season college basketball. #7 Vanderbilt goes down today against Cleveland St.

The first half was close, and the Ducks had the lead for much of it. Turnovers and missed FTs allowed Vandy to put together a short burst that upped the lead to 20. Right after that, the Ducks closed back to 6, but ran out of steam as Vandy kept hitting 3s.

Jabari Brown should be ... interesting. From what I saw Friday, he doesn't have the elite athleticism that he was supposed to have. Actually, he reminded me of a slightly taller version, but less athletic, of Bryce Taylor.

Watch for Brett Kingma. Kid is a lights out shooter. I'm pissed the Zags didn't pursue him more.

Yeah, I was impressed with Kingma. Wasn't wetting his shorts like some of the older transfers were, either.

He sucks, he's white and 6'8...... remember my rule!

Kingma. I just assumed he was white cause that's all you like! Long haired smelly 6'8" whiteboys!

Kingma's 6'1" brother.

Here's a little sample of Duck signee Dominic Artis:

Ducks down by 5 at the half against Eastern Washington at MK arena.

The Ducks are about to escape by the hair on their chiny-chin-chin.

I know it's probably too late, but I sure didn't like them going for 2.

Crazy. After the game he just straight up cleaned out his locker. Seems like the kids a head-case.

I kind of saw this one coming...

Reportedly, Bruce Barron has left the program: http://www.addictedtoquack.com/2011...cks?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

"BEFORE OREGON
Played prep basketball at Brehm Preparatory School in Carbondale, Ill. … Led AAU basketball team (Illinois Titans) to a national title in 2009, averaging 18 points per game in the senior national tournament … Chose Oregon over Oklahoma State, Marquette and Indiana … Also played AAU basketball for the Mac Irvin Fire."

I dunno, but it SUCKS. Chatted with a donor/friend who said the AD announced this yesterday too. So, it is official.

If anyone has more insight, love to hear it.

Heres part of the Barron story. It still doesn't disclose any new information.
“We’ll move forward with the 13 players we have on the team,” UO coach Dana Altman said. “I’m not going to talk anymore about guys not on the team. We’ll just move on from here.”

While Altman had earlier left an opening for Brown to return, the coach made it clear Tuesday that that was no longer the case for either departed player.

“We’re past that point,” Altman said. “I want guys who want to be here (and) I think everybody else is pretty solid.

“We’re going to move forward and as long as we have enough guys to rotate in there we’ll find a way to compete.”

Barron’s playing time had totaled just 21 minutes in the past three games, after he had missed both exhibitions and the counting opener after suffering a concussion in practice. But Altman had praised him for the effort he brought in his brief appearances.

“We missed his energy,” Loyd said of his former teammate’s absence Tuesday. “He would have gotten us ready.”
