Another sweet project for the Burnside Bridgehead. To refresh your memory, it'll be going up next to this project:

The Phil Knight SoWa/OHSU cancer research building (1 of 2 planned):

The Oregon Legislature on Friday approved $198 million in bonding authority for Oregon Health & Science University to pursue creation of a cancer research center. The planned project is expected to create thousands of construction jobs starting in 2016, and dramatically impact the South Waterfront District.

The House approved Senate Bill 5703 late Friday afternoon, after the Senate approved it, 28-2, on the condition that OHSU match Phil Knight‘s $500 million pledge by Feb. 4, 2016. The bill now is awaiting Gov. John Kitzhaber‘s signature.
Even with the state bond sales, the university would still raise $500 million for development of the $1.2 billion Knight Cancer Institute, OHSU spokesman Tim Kringen said.

“We wanted the commitment that we are going ahead with planning for the structures that this will fund,” he said. “It will take two years of planning to break ground, and a year and eleven months to raise the money. That’s why we wanted the commitment.”

When is the new bridge going to be finished? And what name did they choose?

They haven't named it but I'm hoping it's Cascadia Crossing.

That's a great name!!! Or how about Willamette people bridge.... Not as clever huh?

They should call it Columbia River Crossing. Just because all the people in Vantucky would freak when they saw the headline about the grand opening of the light-rail-only Columbia River Crossing.

God I love you Barfo.... HAHAHAHA

Finally escaping the burbs for the umpteenth time. We've got two places in mind: one on 90th and NE Glisan or one on 50th and NE Killingsworth. Any pro/cons for either area ya'll can think of?

Any updates on this Hoojacks? I'm about 20 blocks west of the first one. The list of oddities I've experienced in my 2 years of residing here:

We have come home to find our uncarved pumpkin on the porch carved and a spoon and butter knife left behind.
I have had my driver's side mirror struck due to ridiculous narrow streets.
One of my tires punctured, but that was a city wide vandalism thing (still at large).
And before I moved in, my now wife, called me over because cops had closed off adjoining streets looking for a suspect on foot.

Yeah we didn't get either of them. Then, out of the blue, my girlfriend's great uncle went on hospice, so we moved into his attic to help with him. He lives on 20th and Belmont, so it could be worse

That's weird, but an amazing location!

I live in the coolest neighborhood in Portland. Mississippi baby!

You're still a dork though! The HCP could live in Boring and he'd still be a baller!

Stay off my blocc, son.

Tell your wife's friends pediatrician-in-law or whoever owns Por Que No that they need to get a bigger place. Pass the message.

This came out better than I had expected. An awesome addition to downtown.
