All the new buildings seem to have the same kind of architecture.
Target is finalizing its lease agreement to open a store in downtown Portland, according to sources close to the deal.
The 101-year-old building, initially home to the Olds, Wortman & King department store, needs several significant modifications in order to accommodate Target. Even though the building has been altered many times over the years, the addition of loading bays for supply trucks was a tough sell to some preservationists. But the building’s owner, the Bill Naito Co., and architecture firm Fletcher Farr Ayotte Inc. in May requested design advice from the Historic Landmarks Commission as they moved forward with the development.
The entrance of a national big-box retailer into the historic building required some compromises from both sides, but people involved with the project seem satisfied with the approved plans.
The long-term vision for this district has a Vancouver-esqe theme to it.
A cluster of glass towers. I actually like it. No other part of the city will look like South Waterfront/Schnitzer campus.

This is a solid addition to the all things portland thread. This band, Hot Boy, was a butt rock band from Portland in the late 80's. My sister was dating the drummer during this era. In fact she's in this video, but I will not tell you which one she is!
The whole vid was shot in Portland circa 88 or 89? Something like that. I actually like this song quite a bit, but it might be because it's nostalgic for me. I used to listen to their one and only album all the time when I was a kid. I thought it was so bad ass that my sister was dating the drummer and I was raised on butt rock anyway. Good stuff!

Not a renovation son, different location.
How do you know that's what he meant? You his girlfriend?
Not a renovation son, different location.
The part of the building that Nike leased was renovated. Having historic protection from the city, the exterior wasn't modified.

I know it's a new location -- the 1928 Kress Building.
Great location for visiting NBA players. Nikeortland is directly across the street from 'the Nines'.
