What are they going to do with the land in front if the MC on the water? U remember there used to be a hotel there.

PA owns that land IIRC. That'll be developed when/if Jumptown gets started.

Here's a perfect example as to why I can't stand the PDC -- every proposal that comes along they find away to immediately shorten and simplify the design. This is why every building is a slab-esque design.

The PDC turned this:

into this:

The PDC is not the reason that failed projected was drastically scaled back.

A long-term development plan for Lincoln High school calls for constructing 1,682 workforce housing units, a new football field and a two-story parking garage.

PSU unveils plans for a massive makeover for the Scott Center -- Groundbreaking in 2014:

It's going to be like a (modern interpretation) Memorial Coliseum in the middle of downtown.

Fez, I'm assuming you mean the "Stott" Center, not "Scott"?

Not to get all anal on you, I just don't recall the "Scott Center", and this is the first time I'm hearing about this renovation, so I haven't done proper research.

That looks really cool but where is PSU getting the $$?

If the actual building looks anything like the renderings it's going one of the most unique looking College basketball arenas in the country.

Fez, cool, thought it was Stott. But I skipped so much class, I was thinking maybe I just never saw the Scott Center.

Depth perception should be interesting in that joint. Taking a jumper in to the woods could definitely fuck someone up. It does have a Memorial Coliseum without the black curtains feel to it.

Solid design, odd location.

But it's great to see more development in this area nonetheless.

$1.5 billion for 7.3 miles!

http://www.oregonlive.com/milwaukie/index.ssf/2012/05/federal_officials_commit_7452.html

I grew up in Gladstone and have friends and family who live in the Milwaukie area and I haven't found a single person who lives there that wants Max. Actually the commute down McLoughlin isn't bad at all during rush hour traffic. This just seems like one of those projects that is only happening because the feds offered to pay half.

They never had a chance to stop this project. The wheels were already in motion.

I must be going the wrong way down McLouglin then. I always hit traffic.

Hillsboro’s suburban skyline could soon become taller.

The city recently approved an ordinance to rezone a Tanasbourne business park and make way for the AmberGlen Community Plan, a 20-year growth strategy expected to produce multiple commercial and residential high-rise buildings.

Approximately 6,000 new medium- to high-density residential units are expected to be built, as well as 3 million square feet of office space and 500,000 square feet of retail. A large park will sit in the middle, while green pathways will be spread throughout to connect the property to Rock and Bronson creeks.

Sure there is traffic but it flows steady, even the speed trap in downtown Milwaukie isn't bad.
