All Things Portland

I will check that out.

My mom volunteered one a day a week at the Oregon Historical Society for years. She got to see a lot of amazing things. They have so much they can't put all of it on display. She found a journal from one of the Whitman daughters of the Whitman Massacre fame. There was enough information in the journal that her and my dad were actually able to find the cave the family hid in. It was presumed that the cave was underwater when the Columbia was dammed.
I LOVE the OHS. And I wish they could move into much bigger quarters so they could display all the stuff they have. I'd love to see it all. Maybe I should be volunteering there....

Gentrification has (thankfully) started in Oldtown:

Fez, I just spent almost 2 hours scrolling through All Things Portland. I absolutely loved all the photos, conceptual drawings, etc, etc that you posted. Thank you for that. I absolutely enjoyed every minute....not to mention the comments from the peanut gallery.

I actually went to Oregon Historical Society Museum a few years ago. I went to Kindergarten downtown

so that was really cool and brought back memories.

Portland is becoming LA and LA is becoming Portland.

Getting a Blue Star and a Salt and Straw 10 minutes away from me. Haha

The craziest transformation is the Pearl District:

unless it's a hipster baseball stadium, looks like that won't be the location for the new stadium.

It always seemed to me that there were too many moving parts to ever make it work as a stadium site.

can't believe how fucking expensive hotels are in downtown Portland. 300 a night the fuck man.

Yeah. And at the height of this recent economic boom the Multnomah County Area has been experiencing lately. What is the local commerce department's slogan for Stumptown, "Slip Away From the Mainstream - at 11 Bucks An Hour"

This is a really cool site that I use for work. If you're interested in keeping track of what's going on, or you see something in your neighborhood and you're curious about the project.

My go-to site.

Although I wish the images were smaller and each project (weekly updates) had an image of it rather than just text.

The format at placesovertime was perfect but not nearly as updated as NextPortland.

There was an article about the guy who runs NextPortland, Iain MacKenzie, in the DJC. Pretty cool that he does it in his spare time.

can't believe how touristy Portland is now. Everyone's doing the whole Bike Tour/Voodoo or Bluestar donuts. On my flight back home last night, there were at least 7 or 8 people who brought Voodoo or Blue Star donut boxes here.

Aren't both now available at PDX?

Maybe they're not yet, but they will be.

I don't pay that much attention, not my thing, but I remember something from months ago saying they would be. Several Portland staples are coming to PDX.

That being said, I know many people that hit it up on their way to PDX when leaving town. Kinda like I'd hit In-N-Out before leaving Cali back in the day.
