IF Portland is still wanting a chance at Whiteside and i have to believe they might decide to pass and maybe go someplace else BUT if they do not i hope the Blazers still get a meeting. However i am fearing i wake up tomorrow with news of him and Dallas agreeing to a deal and no meeting with Blazers.

The Mavericks, sources say, recently wrapped up their New York City recruiting pitch to Hassan Whiteside

I am glad there is no report of a deal in place and maybe IF the Blazers still want him they will have a shot at getting him.

No, because the base year compensation rule would only make our outgoing salary on that deal 8.5M.
Ok I read up on it at cbafaq.com

I'm trying to think of a way where we could sign Parsons and Whiteside without gutting our bench.

Yeah, it does seem that way now. I would like to think there is the slightest chance we get to see him before that Snapchat announcement, but I know that's not likely.

Whiteside just announced on Snapchat he's staying in Miami

Did Portland even get a chance to make their case?

Over half the league had the money. It was Miami that got the deal done.
The max from Miami is higher than the max from anyone else yeah we might sit here and think to ourselves "but it's only $4mil more" well that and the state income tax aspect... Also as Whiteside said because of being I the DL he's played for 8 teams in 4 years not changing probably was high on his list.

I'm not even a tiny bit surprised.

I'm not really disappointed either.

Agreed. I wasn't emotionally invested in the idea of Whiteside.

Dwight is still out there as well some more value dudes.

Me either. In fact, I could never shake my apprehension. I'm not sure he has the right outlook, he didn't want to be here, so it's no loss if he isn't. He made the best businessman choice, so good for him.

I'd rather have had Dwight but we're not getting him either. Maybe we get a cheap young center who can defend. Maybe we trade for one. Maybe Neil goes under the radar and we get Sanders. Or maybe we roll with the three centers we already have.

It's all good.

Whiteside may be in play again. We could still have max space for him if we renounce Meyers/Moe. Should Olshey make the call to try to "Deandre" him? Should he risk alienating Ezeli?
