Event Allen Crabbe appreciation thread

I think several of you do not understand the concept of an "appreciation thread", lol.
why appreciate him? signed an offer sheet last summer and we were the stupid ones to match obviously but he wanted a bigger role, didn't wanna be here. Everybody gives Batum so much shit for signing an offer sheet but in the end he really wanted to be here. Crabbe is different, he never wanted to be here, he thinks he can ball out with money and play at some level I have never seen possible of a guy who can do one thing good

As Tom Petty once said, "It's just the normal noises in here".

When have we had a player appreciation thread without multiple thread crappers posting negative comments? Even if it's just "I appreciate that he's gone"?

The only one I can possibly think of is Wes Matthews. Aldridge, Batum and even Roy caught the ire of some fans, and even though this forum didn't exist, so did Clyde and Walton. Porter, Kersey and Buck were spared, but that was in the pre-internet days.

BNM

One thing Clutchfans has that we should adopt is threads titled things like, "I have grown to HATE James Frauden." We need those for all our players too.

The only thing I'm adopting from them is....

Eh, I can't think of anything in .9 seconds, I'm sure they could.

I appreciate that Crabbe now has a chance to earn that salary with starter minutes -- should be interesting though because he never really seemed to have that "killer instinct" so as a starter it might quite the roller-coaster for Nets fans :dunno:

I imagine he will score between 18 and 20 ppg. They will in no way be efficient points. If the coach needs him to shoot, he will though.

Crabbes mpg, ppg, rpg, apg, fg% all went up each year. Man that guy sucked

Crabbe was 3rd in the league in 3 pt %. He wad complete trash.

He may not have been the player you hoped he'd be, but saying he was awful or you have nothing good to say, is stupid.

It's not his fault he was offered that contract.

Good luck in a Nets uniform

Nicolson does not have playoff experience. Muddling around in the first round is a Portland tradition. I wish Crabbe the best in his career.

I appreciate Crabbe for:
  1. Being an NBA-caliber player drafted in the second round. This is far from a given. He was an asset when many guys drafted in that area aren't--it's not his fault that we didn't maximze his talents. In hindsight we probably should've traded him before his contract came up.
  2. He was by all accounts a good locker room guy. Definitely a good thing to have on a very young team trying to establish the right culture. Absence of asshole is never as noticeable as asshole, so it's easy to take for granted.
  3. Providing us with a $12.5m trade exception. As this guy on Reddit pointed out, this is actually kind of valuable.
I think he's one of those guys like Steve Blake who will float around the league earning paychecks for a long time by knowing and playing his role.

(Blake finally retired at the age of 36 from the NBA, btw. How crazy is it that he played more than twice as many seasons as Brandon Roy? I think we should retire and un-retire his jersey 3 times.)

Based on some of the comments about him on this board since he was traded, I'm kind of surprised that he isn't just using one digit in his goodbye.

He already did that when he signed his first offer sheet with the Nets...

You really hold that against him? Man, somebody offers me 4 years at $19M per it's not going to take long to get my signature on the contract.
I don't hold anything against Crabbe......we matched the deal...now we're free of it

MM crushes it.

AC is a good player, and will do very well out east. I wish him good luck and God speed.

Crabbe has done well for a second round pick. He's improved every year, and he will most likely continue to improve, especially with a bigger role as a starter.

Hate the contract if you must, but hating the player is pointless. Personally, I was never a big fan and never had high expectations for him, even when others did. I hope he does well as a Nyet.

Thanks Allen for being part of the Blazers family, and for bringing back a nice fat trade exception.

Speaking of trade exception, I'm coining it now: ACTE (Allen Crabbe Trade Exception)

ACTE > RLEC

I might have to take a few bourbon shots to steady my nerves so I could hold the pen. But I'd sign that sucker before someone came to their senses.

When you get paid as much as he does, you let shit like what I have to say and think roll off your back. You just got ROYALLY PAID. You don't give a shit what forum folk have to say.

You just spread your fingers and say "deuces".
