Amare's Elbow numbed Batum's arm

You mean the play where he walked right into Batum's right shoulder while "adjusting" his goggles? It was on purpose. Even Amare would admit it.

His elbow barely touched Batum. Amare adjusts his goggles very often, I don't know why you have it in quotation marks. It didn't necessarily look purposeful to me. And how do you know Amare would admit it?

The act of adjusting his goggles is natural (and the motion in which he did it). it's the fact he changed the direction he was walking while doing it, and then changed again after he did it.

I would like to see video of this too. I was streaming TNT and didn't get a good look at the "play."

ESPN showed it yesterday.

Here's a photo that sorta shows it.

We gotta sic' the pitbull on him!
I was reading through this thread tonight waiting for someone to make this obvious point. Any time a quarter is near the end and Portland has some fouls to give, put in Pendergraph to deliver some solid whacks with a nod and a stare down. I'm sure he's dying to put his 6 to good use

STOMP

To me, Pendergraph has that Charles Oakley quality when it comes to protecting himself and his teammates. Someone you don't want to cheap shot on the court.

If there's a guy in this league just aching for role of retaliator, it's Pendergraph. I'd definitely like to see him inserted into end of quarter defensive plays and see if he can get under Amare's skin.

With Pendergraph you don't even have to tell him to go out and take the cheap shot. It's just his nature to find the toughest guy on the court and be as annoying as possible to him.

He's like that guy at the local gym's basketball court, except not 5-7", balding, overweight, and 45 years old. :D

I think it likely was intentional, but this video doesn't really show one way or the other.

McMillan should have Pendie sit in when Batum is attended to by the trainer. This way he can hear every detail of Batum's painful problems. This will motivate him full of hatred for Amare! Well that's my plan, anyway...it may or may not work.

The best retaliation against Amare given the current pussified state of the League is simply to win Game 5.

What makes me assume it was intentional is, he didn't turn around after someone shoved him in the back. Now, if you accidentally bumped someone, adn they shoved you, I think the likely reaction is to turn around in shock or anger as to why you were pushed. His lack of a reaction, and obviously I could be reading way too much into this, but his lack of reaction makes it appear like he knew damn well what he was doing.

Also, really Nash? What a whiney fucking bitch he is. Look at him run to the ref like that. LOL. Fuck you. I wish Pendy would Robert Horry his ass into retirement tonight. Fuck him. I like the guy off the court, I can't stand wghining like his on it.

That video also shows Nash running to the ref like a little bitch... "That's a T, Right??? Right Ref?? Batum pushed him!! He just pushed him for no reason!!! WHINE WHINE BITCH MOAN FUCKIN CANADIAN PUSSY WAAAAHHHHHH"

That's exactly right. Even after he bumped into him, there was no reaction from Amare. You don't have to be Matlock to make the case it was intentional.

Meh, he's protecting his guy. The Suns were basically lawyerballed out of a title by the Spurs. Since then, they've joined the ranks of those teams that work the refs.

Not Nic, but perhaps we have found an important job for Rudy to do...

I would rather it's a guy who can actually pack a big thump behind the punch, and have the attitude to carry it out, with intent. His name is Pendergraph.

That video is pretty clear evidence. And as RR7 pointed out, his lack of a reaction to Nic's shove proved the intent. Dirty.

And Nash, wtf. Quit crying.

Exactly right. The players don't need to whine, they don't need to complain, they just need to perform and do evrything they can to rip Phoenix's heart out ... and after what I saw in game 4 with the Blazers willingness to get physical and push back I think they're fully capable.

LOL. Amare even went into Juwan. Take out his eye! lol

This screams for a nutshot on Amare. I don't condone going for his eyes, but I think a wicked backhand to his groin would be adequate reprisal against this douche. Send in Pender, and while they're going for a rebound he should just let Amare have it. Rinse and repeat until Amare understands that this kind of thing will not be tolerated, or, he becomes sterile. Whichever happens first.

My post was basically tongue-in-cheek. If Amare tries to bump Roy's knee tonight, though, then I'm all for Nate sending in Pendy to execute the 3 stooges eye poke on Amare. Amare is trying to injure players.

But the classic nutshot is so much easier to hide..... poking him in the eye would require yanking off his goggles and three stooging it.

John Stockton was the master of a sly elbow to the privates. He NEVER got called for a foul on it. Maybe the Blazers can hire him for a few days to train the guys?

After watching the elbow to Batum's shoulder I don't find too much wrong with it. Sure, he knew Batum's shoulder was sore and I'm sure he was trying to make it sting a little bit, but all he did was run into it with his elbow. Its not like he swung it or anything.

Is he a dbag for doing it? I wouldn't disagree with someone who said he is, but at the same time I don't think it's that terrible.
