Amnesty waivers

I think this is where we might get the best value in free agency. The waivers have to be made from July 11-17th. We only have to bid more then other teams with cap room. Last season the only bids put in were for Billups who was claimed for $2 million and Outlaw claimed for $4 million (yuck!). I would surely put in at least a minimum bid for all the players below. The bid is for the same number of years as the players current contract. The guys on one year deals are very interesting because we'd be able to keep our cap room in 2013. Boozer would be a fabulous addition but I'd expect bidding to be most competitive for him. Possible candidates:

Elton Brand 1 year
Jose Calderon 1 year
Al Jefferson 1 years
Darko Milicic 2 years
Charlie Villaneuva 2 years
Carlos Boozer 3 years
Al Harrington 3 years
Brendan Haywood 4 years

As far as backups go I'd much rather look at DJ Augustin, at the right price.

Calderon has that Damon Stoudamire dribble the ball until there is 2 seconds left on the clock and then pass syndrome.

Well then Branda would stay on the Mavs. I'd be more interested in matrix, he would only be on a 2 year deal and at the least have value in a trade to a contender and at the most be a good veteran to show the kids how to hustle.

Does Chicago have any interest in amnesty Boozer and matching Asik? Boozer would get a huge bid, which would greatly reduce the actual cash Chicago forks over to Boozer. Then Chicago doesn't have to fight the luxury tax line as they currently are.

Boozer or Jefferson would be very interesting options if Hibbert is matched. I still question if LaMarcus is more effective at the 5 then the 4 anyways. Today I learned he's at least 7'2"

He doesn't hate the 5, he just doesn't want to be known as a center. So we start him at the 5 and call it a forward spot.

hre is the rub on playing LMA at the five. he spends too much time on D and runs out of gas on O. We need a big bodyy to do the grunt work on D, and let him spend his energy in O, if he is to be a main focus first of strong seconed option.
