uh! I plan on taking the Amtrak home in a few weeks. To Roseburg or Eugene at least.

Sank the boat?

I've taken the Starlight Coastal Amtrak train from San Diego to Eugene a few times....last time a guy with 5 kids jumped off a bridge in front of the train and killed himself while his kids watched....we were dead on the tracks for hours waiting for the police and ambulance to deal with it....the crowd on the train was insane trying to see the aftermath....what a thing to do to your kids. Usually it's a great train ride up the coast if you sleep from Sacramento to Shasta...wake up and cruise into Eugene

I sense a family mutiny. Send Marzy out of town on the boat. Don't let him come home until after Christmas is over.

I sort of look forward to it. The track pass though a lot of country you don't get to see as well any other way.

I love traveling by train and that line is one of the better ones......From San Diego to San Luis Obispo it's a gorgeous view of the coastline

I imagine. I saw several trains pass from the boat on the way down.

Your ability to conflict motives is astounding Sly.

You were the one asking about the socialists on the forum. With your love of gubberment medical care and transportation I think I found one of them.

You could walk home along the tracks, would give you the same view but in more detail.

Fuck! It's all government has left me!
Once I rode the Southern Pacific, now the Amtrak. Once I had Employer self-risk healthcare, now the VA. I am please Obama at least left me with the VA though.
You have to see the bright side, even when it's hard to find.

uh, one of your poems would work well here barf.
Perhaps a take off of Woody Guthrie or...

I was thinking of Neal Cassady, although I didn't mean to suggest that you should perish on the trip.

Edit: or, I suppose, Elwood Decker

One of my Techs was caught up in that. I'm glad she left her house earlier otherwise who knows what would've happened.

fwiw, I don't really see the merit in this. Amtrak shares tracks with local transit companies (NJ Transit/Septa/etc) all the time on the east coast. But a chilling prediction nonetheless.

Holy crap...

The mayor of Lakewood believes it is just a matter of time before these high speed trains kill someone.
He asked the DOT presenters to do better. Mayor Don Anderson said grade separations – such as overpasses – should be included to keep trains away from cars and pedestrians.

“Come back when there is that accident, and try to justify not putting in those safety enhancements, or you can go back now and advocate for the money to do it, because this project was never needed and endangers our citizens,” Anderson said.

Yeah, they never should have put the tracks across the freeway without an overpass. Clearly that led to this problem.

It's not that. It's the "upgrades". They should've laid new track.
