If only it was written with some shred of intelligence, we could accept it as fact. It certainly seems like a plausible thesis. Sadly, I don't think the author knows anything more than the average lobotomy victim after a couple bottles of mad dog.
barfo
and the worst gm in the league.....
rich cho.
I bet everybody who read this thread title immediately thought of Sean Marks. That gut reaction tells me all I need to know.
I'll take barfo's word for it that the article sucks.
Worst players by PER of those who have played in enough games to qualify.
#2 is a surprise to me.

Blake is blazing at #15 with a PER of 7.55.
LOL.

55 qualified players with a PER below 10 ... that's amazing.
True, but a lot of those have low USG rates. A player like Jonny Flynn, who has a coach that allows him a high usage rate, yet is 2nd to last in PER, is an extra level of suck. If he had a USG% in the low teens, I'm guesstimating he'd have a PER near zero to one.
I never said anything about anybody's usage rate, I just thought it was amazing that there are 55 rotation spots in the NBA being filled by guys below replacement level (usually defined as a PER of 10).

http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/statistics?sort=VORP&order=false Check out the Value Added ratings... PapaG, VA is a lot like that Impact rating I stumbled upon in the other thread, but vetted by a proper analyst who doesn't just work on his Excel skills in his spare time...
It's nice to see Travis and Steve side-by-side again.![]()
I like Hollinger's statistics a lot, and I generally accept them, but this post from another board dissects some of the statistical variances that some of us have noticed and commented on in this thread on this board.

http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=4363520&postcount=35 I like this post in the thread, too.

No, most of us thought either MM or Mixum.
I did. So what?
You quoted me and started your reply with "True, but ..."
