3.25 over 3 years is basically like having a mid lottery pick on the team, if it meant getting a decent pick... Sure why the hell not.
 
A shot blocker, a rim protector, an excellent team-defender, great basketball IQ, intensity, could be our new Robin Lopez
 
Rethinking this, if it costs us 9mil in cap room it's a concern, we can probably bring a better player for 9mil in free agency, I really want Varejao though, he gives us some things we don't get from other players, if I were the GM I'd do it, but it's a gamble
 
If the Cavs want to save the money badly enough make them pay for it, a 1st or no deal for absorbing varajoe and saving Dan Gilbert millions.

Well thankfully Olshey is our GM because Ed Davis does everything Verejao does but he does it better.
 
We already did the Cavs a favor this summer with the Brendon Haywood deal. We better get something good in return if we help them some more.

I don't think the reporter heard we're interested, I just think they listed the 2 teams with cap space as possible destinations.
 
Varejao is Robin Lopez, Ed Davis is a different thing, just imagine Meyers and Varejao in the front-court, we'd be unstoppable
 
You have Meyers stretching the offense, Varejao inside setting picks and going strong to the basket, on defense Varejao's defense will allow Meyers to guard more on the perimeter
 
Varejao is trash,always injured and ruins any flexibility we might have in the summer.
Neil will need to resign Crabbe,Henderson,Harkless and Mayers WHILE he looks to sign a big free agent in the summer, does he really need that stupid contract blocking him??

Cavs pick will be hella low too, it's basically a 2nd rounder.

This current Varejao is bad... 33 years old, averaging 2.6 ppg and 2.9 rpg, he isn't a shot blocker (never has been), and he hasn't stayed healthy since LeBron was there the first time.. Oh, Meyers is better Downlow defensively as he is too slow on the perimeter.

We'd likely stretch his contract. If the Cavs offer a first AND the rights to Cedi Osman to take on Varejao's contract I'd do it maybe.
 
I would expect at least a first round pick if we acquire Varejao's contract. That would be an excellent use of cap space. Its very likely we are in the same spot this coming summer as last with cap space and no worthwhile free agent. Better to turn that space into a pick now when we are one of the only teams able to do so. In the summer if we unexpectedly need the space there will be 20 teams we can dump Varejao expiring contract on.

If Cleveland sends us Varejao its likely part of a larger trade to bring in a contributor. It could even be part of a blockbuster Love trade. It would be great if we could do this type of trade and get 3 first round picks from Boston; their 2016 pick, Dallas 2016 pick and Memphis 2018 pick. None of these will be high lottery picks so Boston would be more than willing to send them out for the star they're looking for in Love.

Boston would get Love without giving up their prized Brooklyn pick. Cleveland replaces Love with Ryan Anderson while adding an elite defensive guard, solid wing, and big on a cheap rookie contract. Cleveland saves $30 million in luxury tax this year and removes Varejao contract from their cap next year. The Pelicans save money and get a young player with rights to match in free agency; only giving up Ryan Anderson who is expected to leave anyways.

Allegedly, Cleveland is only willing to deal Love if they get a "star" in return. However, if that's just posturing, I agree that they would be better off with a deal like that. From Boston's side, Bradley/Olynyk/3 picks for Love feels really steep. For New Orleans, I have to believe they can do better than Leonard for Anderson.
 
If It is the Cav's pick I am not interested.

I think if we are facing a lineup where Meyers needs to cover his man on the perimeter, I would rather use Aminu at the 4.
I am liking the Harkless-Aminu tandem on D.
 
No expiring contract in the deal
