His statistics were actually worse than Blake's from last year in the first round.

Flame away.

:devilwink:

Blake didn't have Grant Hill hounding him every second of the game.

NO ONE, player or coach, gets a free pass. Not one person associated with the team gets to thump their chest and brag about their performance. The players don't get to throw Nate under the bus, and Nate doesn't get to throw KP under the bus, and KP doesn't get to throw the players under. Everyone needs to take ownership over what went wrong and try to do better.

<rant mode off> Sorry, but this isn't that complicated.

Not one person on this team consistently played well in the playoffs...(Steve Blake isn't even close to the player Andre Miller is if that is what you are trying to get at)

Who didn't play like shit during the playoffs this year?

Blake has a good chance of being a Laker next year IMO
If that happens i'm never going over to my parents house when there is a lakers game on. My mom is such a HUGE blake fan its insane, and I know she will buy the nba cable package just to be able to watch him play.

We need Blake back. He's everything we're missing at the point guard position.

I wouldn't go that far, but Miller was horrible during the playoffs.

Actually, he had a 15 PER for the playoffs. Not up to his usual standard, but far from horrible.

Take out Game 1 and his PER was under 13. Blake was over 15 last year.

Miller = Blake, but at 2x the cost.

Take out the good performance by any player and their PER drops. They all count.

Blake was over 15 last year.

BLANKY was also at exactly 15 last year, in the playoffs.

Miller = Blake, but at 2x the cost.

In six games, with the opposing team changing their defense to stop him, yes. I'm not sure Houston even knew Blake existed last year.

Blake never had a game close to what Millers was in game 1. Blake is not in the same league as Miller PG wise. During the Houston series everyone was healthy and we still got smashed. Phoenix series we were battered pretty badly with a stagnant offence. We were missing our All Star player so phoenix was allowed to pressure Miller/Aldridge all they wanted without it hurting them.
Miller is a great point guard and trying to use him as a scapegoat is pretty idiotic when almost everyone had a bad series in phoenix. Aldridge may have been the only one to put up consistent stats but he seemed way less effective then he should have been. Point is we got beat, big whoop. We suit up next year and give it are all and hope the dice fall into place and everyone is healthy for the playoffs.

Miller is solid, but his lack of outside shooting does IMO make it important we get a solid backup PG that can consistently hit an outside shot, from the 2 and 3. I'd like to see us go after Conley, I think he'd be cheap and a nice fit with Roy, and possibly a long term answer after Andre. I see Bayless as a Roy backup and 6th man type player. I like Collison but he might cost too much.

I lol'd at this! I bet Brooks didnt even know Blake existed.. and Blake was the one guarding him

Miller was a guy with a bullseye on his uniform. The obvious way to play the Blazers was to double team and pressure him and to force guys like Webster to step up to beat you. Miller had that great 1st game and then they figured out that you stop him and you stop the injury riddled Blazers. Roy at 50% wasn't enough to take any pressure off.

With all the attention paid to Miller, it's not surprising that Bayless had more lane to drive and better looks.

If anyone should be getting heat for the miserable showing in the playoffs, it's LMA, IMO.

Oh silly little PapaG. Back to your old attention needing ways.

You forgot to add the :dunno:

And forgot to say "I just posted a stat".

Exactly. The Suns were forced to put their best perimeter defender on him and Portland didn't have another perimeter player capable of consistently making them pay for that. With a healthy Roy, either the Suns would have been in trouble trying to cover Roy with Nash (heh) or Richardson...or, more likely, they wouldn't have switched Hill onto Miller and Miller would have gone on cutting the Phoenix defense to pieces.

I don't agree, though, that LMA should "get heat." He played at about his normal level. Despite exhortations to "step up," players don't suddenly become more talented when better players are hurt. Just because Portland needed/wanted LMA to suddenly become a playoff-caliber first option doesn't mean he had the ability to do so. He's a mediocre second option and great third option. If Roy and Oden are healthy, Aldridge is, or should be, the third option.

Please God no. It's not remotely funny or "cool" when those /b/tards over at Realgm do it, please don't drag that trash to this forum.

You've been here for four months. Thanks for defining what is allowed on the board. :)

For the record: some hilarious stuff comes from /b/, and as long as it's proper context (like that Boxxxxxy pic) I think it augments, rather than detracts, from the S2 experience.
