According to his agent.

Andre Miller is looking for a three-year deal on the free agent market, something the 76ers might not be able to afford.

"We're not looking long term - 3 years," agent Andy Miller said. "Jason Kidd and Steve Nash are likely to have contracts that will take them to 38."

Philadelphia only has the midlevel exception ($5.6 million) and the bi-annual exception ($2 million) to offer currently.

"Our position hasn't changed," added Andy Miller. "Andre has a strong interest, a strong desire to come back.

"We feel, from his body of work, Philadelphia should obviously reflect that in an offer, in appreciation for what he has done or what he can do for them in the future. We know the team has financial commitments elsewhere, but we also know Andre has continued to produce and deliver.

"If the fans want a team that can make the playoffs, that can win in the playoffs, the Sixers would be hard-pressed to find someone at the position who can produce like Andre."

So what's a realistic amount for Andre Miller for 3 years? It sounds like he wants to go back to Philly, but they don't have the resources. I think 3 years would be a perfect amount of time for Bayless to study under him, and then take the reigns when he leaves, when we (hopefully) give him a championship to retire on.

7.6 million a year for three years which just so happens to be exactly what Travis Outlaw and Steve Blake make combined next season.

Lock up Hedo with your capspace (8-9 million) then go out and trade those to to get Miller. It's not like Philly would be locked into a long term financial commitement with either and they'd get two productive players on one year rentals.

A three-year contract is very reasonable for a guy like Andre Miller. In that time, we'll see if Jerryd is the right fit for the starting PG spot.

Agreed.

It seems so bloody obvious....which means it probably won't happen! :sigh:

Hmmm. I don't think Miller would be a sign and trade. I think Miller is the fallback if Hedo falls through. I certainly don't think we'd be getting BOTH of them (sign Hedo, sign-and-trade for Miller) because I don't think Miller would work well with Hedo (if we're going to use Hedo right, as Orlando did, you need a 3-point shooter at PG).

If we get Hedo then I either think we stand pat with Blake (he shoots the three) or we sign-and-trade for Hinrich, not Miller.

I am not Kevin Pritchard, and I approve this message.

Three years sounds just about right for Miller. That would be nice, especially at around $7-8 million per.

His old teamates have said he was a cancer in the locker room. Something to think about!

You know Crimson, I've also heard NBA commentators saying that they've heard he is difficult to handle, I will find some info though!

This link is reporting we are going to trade Blake for him, but again, it is the NY daily news bullshit.

I am not sold on Miller. As an example of why, I would point out that he was basically on the same team that Denver has now minus Billups, and they struggled. Every year. Also there is no explanation as to why his numbers go up and down so much from year to year. He didn't thrive in Philadelphia last year until they started to run more. What about Nate McMillan being coach says we will ever run more? That makes no sense. The only thing it does bring, is more penetration of the paint, and a guy who can throw an alley-oop.

It's a mixed bag at best IMO.

I also agree with this reasoning. i am not sold on Miller to go along with Roy. If we add Turk to the mix i see end of games being Turk, Roy, and Rudy with our bigs. What is Miller going to do when Roy has the ball. Answer is: the same thing Sergio did.

Right. This is why Kirk Hinrich makes much more sense to me. He can playoff Brandon. The same can be said of Jerryd Bayless, and why he was brought in.

This is something that I've heard Antonio Harvey float out a couple of times on the weekly courtside program.

Miller is known as an intensely private and quiet person, which sometimes rubs people the wrong way -- especially in the fist bumping, chest thumping world of athletics. I'd take these so called "reports" with a massive grain of salt.

He'd be Intensely Private And Quiet Person #3 or #4 on our team (behind LMA, Oden, and sometimes Joel). He'd actually fit right in.

Really? The only such comment I have ever heard, was about his unhappiness with the Clippers. (and that was from Bill Simmons!)
