Who has one? Just got an Android Incredible 2. Always been a blackberry guy.

Whats the word on this? You like it?

I have a droid incredible (that I have for myself) and it is SO FRICKEN MUCH BETTER than any blackberry (that I have for work) that the two shouldn't be in the same sentence. Well, actually, I should back up on that. If all you want to do is send email, then blackberry is probably the better option. If you want to do anything else that a smart phone can do, then dump that bb like the bitch that it is.

I'm not a big 'Techy guy' like a lot around here. I'm just trying to get in with the times.

I hear you. I got the droid incredible maybe a year ago and it's ridculously more useful than the storm it replaced as well as the other work bb's I've had. Ugh. I just noticed that you're a Cards fan. Scratch that -- stick with the blackberry. lol

If you already use Google products (gmail, maps, contacts, calendar, picasa, etc, etc) the integration of all of these with Android is what sets it apart, IMO.

Why didn't you wait to see what the new Droid Bionic is going to look like?

Why did you pick the Incredible over the Droid X2?

I have a Nexus One. It's a little long in the tooth at this point (I've had it since last February) but I still don't really need anything else from a phone. 2012 might be time to upgrade, but it should be fine until then.

Android rocks.

Because as I said, I'm not really a tech guy, nor a phone snob. I'm a pretty basic person.

You won't want to go back to the BB.

RIM is going down the toilet.

Still has the best security. But when individuals buy for themselves they don't think about security, and don't care even when you tell them. Apple, Microsoft and Motorola (more so) are adding security features to their phones so corporations are starting to allow their use.

Still handles corporate (Exchange) e-mail the best. But, the gap isn't huge like it used to be. For many companies now the e-mail is just good enough on iPhone, Android and Windows Phone 7 that they are willing to support it.

Blackberry instant message app was a big advantage for them, but with Google Talk and Apple's new app, they have caught up.

The keyboards are fantastic, but some users don't care, others love iPhone and Swipe on the touchscreens. Plus, there are several decent Android phones with good enough physical keyboards to choose from now.

For most everything else that people want in a new smartphone BlackBerry is way behind. Big touch screens, that support tons of media and have great Web browsers and powerful processors to support that use. Good game play and large app markets. Good cameras. etc.

RIM has got to come out with some great phones, and soon, or it may be too late for them to pull out of the spin. And the word from analysts is that their new software - which is looking good - is 2 years away from being great. That is an eternity in phone development.

Microsoft is way behind - but they have a better shot than RIM. The software is excellent right now. And Nokia, who makes some of the finest phone hardware in the world, have bet their company on switching from Symbian to Windows Phone. If they can produce a hit phone right off the bat and get their app market rolling, they have a chance build momentum to compete.

Basic people don't have high end smartphones like the Incredible.

Did you sign a new 2 year contract to get this phone?

If so, and you are allowed to return it, you might consider doing so and getting a 4G capable model, or waiting for a new 4G model, as several are due in the next month or two.

Verizon charges the same price for data that is 4G as they do for 3G. They are firing up 4G in a lot of cities this year. So, since you are paying for the 4G whether you use it or not, you might as well get the benefit of it for the next 2 years.

Besides being faster, with 4G, you can be on a call and use data at the same time.

or get an iphone.

iPhone only does voice/data at same time on AT&T. On Verizon, you can't. Verizon set up their 3G to function with the fewest problems. So they didn't allow that feature. It is too sketchy over 3G. AT&T let er rip. And they have a lot more problems with dropped calls.

dunno why i'd use voice and data at the same time. i guess its better than not having it...just not totally sold on it.

Basic people get free phones from wirefly when their previous contract was up. All my needs with a phone are unlimited texting, camera and internet. I saw the Incredible 2 was the best that Verizon had to choose from so that was it. Tired of keyboard, too.

make sure you get Swype keyboard active on the phone. fucking awesome.

Bluetooth headset, on call with family/bore/boss/etc going on and on and on.

Meanwhile, you are surfing / checking e-mail / playing game.

Don't knock it until you try it. Tastes good.

I got the HTC Thunderbolt a few days after it was released. Ordered from Verizon online and was able to get it on a 1 year contract for only $30 above the 2yr price. They have since gone to 2yr contracts only on all phones so I feel fairly lucky.

This is my first android phone, and basically my first smartphone. Battery life sucks bad but I have a charger at work/home/car so it's not an issue for me. Well except for one night that I ended up drunk walking along I5 for 20 mins with a dead phone to get to the girlfriends so that kind of sucked but hey at least I got a funny story now.

I'm a big fan of Android, free google maps navigation is awesome, the phone is much cheaper than an Iphone and I like the idea that I can do things such as rooting it and loading custom ROM's down the road. The big screen on the Thunderbolt (4.3") is awesome. I'll never go back to a smaller screen again. It might be to bulky for a hot chick wearing tight jeans, but for me the size isn't an issue, my wallet is larger. Typing on a touchscreen is fine, I'm so glad I didn't go with a physical keyboard or a smaller screen. I've been using the laptop a lot less around the house since often I find myself on the phone instead.

The Thunderbolt will do voice/data at the same time, even over 3G. I'm not sure about other Verizon 4G phones, but if that's an important feature to anyone phone shopping you can get it. I believe the Thunderbolt was the first Verizon phone to do this. I personally don't think it's mattered much to me, maybe I used it while having a speakerphone conversation and navigation going but I haven't really noticed.

yeah, I didn't want to get too complicated with the explanation, but Verizon 3G has been upgraded to the next "version", and that version of 3G with certain supported handsets will do voice/data at the same time.

My daughter has an Evo that I have used and love it as well. I am deciding to get either the 3d or wait a couple of weeks for the Photon from Motorola

my only complaint about android devices is the battery life. I had to buy an extended battery, since then it's perfection.

I fucking love my Android.

But I do worry sometimes that'll become sentient and kill me.

I have an HTC Hero, but I don't really find myself using much of its features...or any of its features other than the phone.

I have an HTC EVO. Pretty cool, but more features than I'll ever need.
Thought this was pretty funny:

Used to have an Android, got the iPhone and love it. The only thing I miss is the SWYPE texting!
