When it really mattered, persistence paid for a positive Anirban Lahiri, playing safe proved costly for a tense Manav Jaini and some modest play marred the chances of long-time leader Mardan Mamat.
The final round of the inaugural $300,000 Panasonic Open had all the ingredients that make a heady concoction. Eventually, it needed a playoff to break a three-way tie at 13-under 275.

The winning-birdie from six feet, in response to pars from Mamat and Jaini, gave Lahiri the top prize of $47,000. The 23-year-old from Bangalore also joined the select band of Indian winners on the Asian Tour and jumped to fifth spot on the Order of Merit.
