My thinking is late on Thursday the 1st or early on Friday the 2nd, the site will go down for as long as 24 hours. When it's back up, we will be running xenforo.
 
I haven't read everything but I'm good with the update. I have a couple concerns others may have mentioned. All these attempts to attract new posters means getting people who may not be familiar with a board that isn't based on trolling and being dicks. I just hope the mods are up for more squabbles. I'm fime with reps going away, but there is something nice about reading the comments of those who appreciated your posts. A simple "like" doesn't really build that camaraderie. I don't post on any other forums, I just hope you manage to keep this place a fun, spirited atmosphere with the change and with the growth.

Denny, Thanks for the preview link. I enjoyed what I have seen with the new xenforo system; vs vBulletin.

Seems as easy to use, and I can see the ease of use, becoming quit better with time, as posters get familiar with the new and simple formatting. As someone mentioned the post editor is a improvement.


The one and only Question I have after reviewing the new xenforo, is can one still post a video in the same or similar fashion one could on vBulletin? Other than that, I am a GO for LAUNCH......GOOD Idea. I think this will expedite the flow of such a huge website utilizing 10s of thousands of posters, with a few million posts....

The new forum software will simply recognize a youtube video URL and embed it automagically in the post. Even easier than it is now ;)

...the changes appear to be for the better so I don't see any problems. Yes, most people dislike change but then again if you think about it, everyone's very first experience with this site was a bit of "a change" in itself.
...I'm sure there will be a bit of a "learning curve" but that won't last long. I'll make sure the regs on the Yanx board are aware of the upcoming changes and urge them to read this thread.

All 3.5M posts will be there on the new site.

It is going to take up to 24 hours to move them all into the new system, hence the down time.

Fine, but some of the best posts were made by people that can't make new posts. You really should issue some amnesties and buy some tin pants for a few mods.

I don't like all the black, it's too much but I do like the black on the title boxes with the red outline instead of the red title boxes with the black outline like we have now. Thoughts?

I understand and agree. See the title bar box under this that says Quick Reply? It's a red gradient with a black line border. I was just saying that a gray to black gradient with a red line border might look cool.
 
Less talk more action change the damn thing already.
 
Thus there basically is not much of a difference in the experience on these message boards....right?

I see we can still posts video feeds, Pics, et al....!

They should just have a banned poster section where banned posters have their only access. I'd bet it would be quite popular.

There can be law breakers or rule breakers. Rule breakers don't need to be banned permanently.
Law breakers need to be banned and reported by name. Perhaps there have been some of these on here, I don't know, but I don't remember any.
I remember one on another forum and he didn't get banned and members refused to give his name. Totally wrong as well as also illegal.

I said I would give the name to the police or the DA with a court order. The same as I would do for anyone else. Any names, email address or phone numbers I'm given I keep private, and that includes yours.
