Frigid temperatures forced another late start Friday for the Waste Management Phoenix Open golf tournament.

Predawn temperatures at Tournament Players Club in north Scottsdale were in the 20s again and greens were frozen, driving back the scheduled 7:40 a.m. first tee time. A repeat of Thursday's first round -- when the start was delayed four hours -- was possible.

Officials said the first players would not tee off until at least 9:30 a.m.

Because of Thursday's late start, half of the 132-man field still was on the course when darkness fell. Six players did not tee off until 5:35 p.m., 27 minutes before sunset. They played two holes.

However, the tournament's Rob Myers said, even with the delays, the tournament should be completed Sunday because warmer temperatures are on the way.

"It's yet to be determined -- whether we have to play 36 holes on Sunday or 36 holes on Saturday," Myers said.

The tournament tries to get its final round in early Sunday afternoon so fans can watch the Super Bowl, but Myers said he doesn't know how that will play out Sunday.
