Believe it, lived through it. Never did the surgery, did the rehab as the left rc is partially torn. I glad I avoided getting cut and was able to regain function.
But I had to learn to sleep on the otherside, pain in the ass. I rearranged the bedroom and put my preferred side up against a wall, then filled that side with one of those bed length pillows so you don't roll back onto the injured shoulder.
Why is it, one can go to the Kerlan Jobe Clinic, Founders and Creators of the TJ Surgery, but if your not a ball player, don't ever expect TJ like surgeries on any joint, with replacement tendons, ligaments, unless your a Movie Star or Ball Player....a double standard of practice, one for the filthy rich athletes, the other for the Public.....regardless of how good one's insurance is, nothing beats the swearing of Money.....$$$$ what drives these fkn Doc's.....
In only 4 years, (91-95), I had 3 RH Rotator Cuff Repair Surgeries, 2 of those included removing a 11 inch long, 2.8 diameter, Mass. A Synovial growth, began in the bursa, when it tore, the fluid, created its own bladder, snaking in a S shape, from the socket, into the spinoglenoid notch. The S shaped mass; bulged out of the bottom of the Clavicle. Twice this occurred, 2 surgeries in one. The last time, the Mass grew back bigger than before, causing my Surgeon (at Kerlan-Jobe [Dr. Yocum] Kerlan and Jobes replacement, TJ specialist) to break the Acromion and Scapula, to hinge out the arm out of the socket, to allow access to the growths end, again, bulging out from under the Scapula. 3each, 2 1/4" long, screws hold the RH shoulder together......no tendons or ligaments were replaced, thus both shoulders hang out of their socket too often, upon over extension, or even sleeping on them....( a constant nagging pain)......
1 LH Cuff repair in 95, re-tore it last Oct. Have been in PT twice & currently, along with Cortisone Shots, yet pain is a daily, minute by minute affair. PT is not working, I refuse the knife, but may yet have to, as this LH arm, is becoming useless, with additional tears in the sub-scapula, and rib cage area, down to the LH Hip, which also needs a Hip Prosthetic, yet I am not up for that shit, not until I can't walk......most tendons in both shoulders were cleaned up, or now missing; but unlike TJ surgery, no additional tendons or ligaments were replaced nor the shoulder rebuilt.....
My point simple, after 3 RH Shoulder Cuff & other conditions, 1 LH Repair, with a current tear, undergoing PT which is netting me nothing........
I can't sleep on any shoulders without waking up with a dead arm & extreme pain, Thus sleeping on ones back, is the best one can do, when you have no other choice.....
and yes, those long pillows are a necessity, after surgery, on both sides if possible.....
IN those same years, add 1 LH Shattered Ankle, and Surgery, (and its still fucked up). 1 Umbilical Hernia Repair......
Every day is a challenge......
