Former Cavs general manager Danny Ferry has changed agents. He left Warren LeGarie's agency and signed on with Lonnie Cooper's camp. Word around the league is Ferry could have the Portland GM job is he wants it. He stepped down from his position with the Cavs in May.

Ferry did what Pritchard wouldnt' do.. thats fire LeGarie. Ferry will be the new GM.

LOL, that's hilarious. Great catch. Repped.

Awesome find.

Man, it seems like Ferry's really angling for this job. I'd have fired LeGarie if I were in his shoes too. What's the point of having him as your agent when he brings so much baggage to the relationship with Portland.

Well if PA fired KP because of LeGarie, would you put it past him to hire someone because they fired Legarie . . . I wouldn't.

Sounds like a stupid reason to hire and fire people, but when you have as much money as PA, you have that luxury. I could see myself doing something like that in PA's position . . . but then again being a kid at heart does lead to some immature decisions on my part.

Love it. I'd be hilarious if other LeGarie clients start firing the goon.

That's so strange isn't? Because a top Blazers insider said he wasn't coming because of Portland's schools.

I wonder if that guy is just some fuckwit that has no idea what he's talking about and just looking to get his name in the paper and on the radio?

Ferry probably didn't fire him because Allen asked him to. Ferry most likely just used common sense. The GM job is probably waiting there for him to take it. The single possible sticking point is his agent.

The agent is supposed to be an asset for Ferry in negotiating a salary, and it seems more likely he'll be a liability. So fire him.

That sounds more like information an agent might leak to the media . . . no wonder Ferry dumped his agent. :D

I didnt know this:

14 - Arn Tellum, Principal, Management - Wasserman Media – Tellum and Wasserman Media are the top earners in the NBA, with more than $300 million in guaranteed contract dollars. Tellum and his partners have a client roster unmatched by any other agency. Tellum's client list includes Derrick Rose, Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge , Joe Johnson, Russell Westbrook, D.J. Augustin and Brook Lopez, giving him a strong mix of big dollar players now as well as a bright stable of talent for the future. Tellum's partner Warren LeGarie also represents half of the coaches and executives in the league, giving Wasserman unbelievable influence on the game.

Since it's been discovered that LeGarie was behind many media leaks in Portland, would you put it past him to start a rumor like this about a guy who recently fired him???? Just asking.

EDIT - sorry GO-Time, you beat my by a minute!!!!

I wonder if Brian Berger was educated by the Portland Public School System? That might explain his stupidity. :dunno:

I don't see it as Danny firing his agent as the reason behind being the next GM, I see it as something he felt was important to do in order to get the position. WL is dead to the Blazers.

It would be a stupid reason to hire a GM. But this is an organization that fired a popular GM that by national media standards and local fans opinion was doing a great job. Maybe PA would hire someone to spite WL? Probably not . . . but these are crazy days in Blazer land and I think anything is possible coming from PA.

Not a bash on PA, I love him as an owner because he is committed and willing to spend money for a championship. I just think he is prone to irrational decsion making.

Ferry already illustrating that he'll be a Yes Man. You want me to fire my agent in order to work for you? No problem!

There goes any independence for Danny. Will he be required to mention Paul Allen's awesomeness at least two times during every public interview? Can that be written into his contract?

And Ferry seems a lot closer to a GM job than KP. You seem to have a problem with yes men getting ahead . . . it's reality.

The last Yes Man nearly destroyed the franchise. It's like deja vu. Has Ferry grown out his hair?

Really? You are saying Ferry is a mirror image of Nash? Patterson?

I don't get it

He's off to a rip-roaring start as a Yes Man. Plus, why is a guy who went to one NBA Finals with the best player in the world considered a good GM?

Do you think it's possible Ferry was dealing with the same behind-the-scenes bullshit from LeGarie at Cleveland and got sick of it?

Anything is possible. It's possible that Ferry was snorting lines of coke off of Dan Gilbert's wife's stomach, and thus he was forced to resign. Not probable or even likely, but possible.

More probable? That Ferry fired his GM because he was tipped that Paul Allen won't hire him if LaGarie was his agent. Otherwise, I imagine Ferry would have fired LaGarie years ago.

Leaks?

The guy put his name to his comments unlike your cowardly front office.

Is that an iceberg?
