Lead assistant Dean Demopoulos will not return to Trail Blazers

Dean Demopoulos, the lead assistant for Nate McMillan, will not return to the Trail Blazers next season, the agent for Demopoulos said.

Agent Warren LeGarie on Monday said he has started to look for a replacement team for Demopoulos, who has spent the past nine years working under McMillan.

“I’m working in trying to find a fit for Dean,’’ LeGarie said. “But the assistant coach market is a little slow right now.’’

Are the Blazers cutting anyone who has ties to Warren LeGarie? Penn, Pritchard, and now coach Dean? This article was also written by Jason Quick. There is little doubt that Warren LeGarie was Quick's source during the KP info leaks.

I buy that KP not firing LeGarie played a big part in his firing. I just think it's a shame it came down to that.

Of the reasons KP was fired, basketball decisions were at the bottom of the list. Sad.

Your opinion.

I think there are basketball relatated reasons.

My opinion says KP has not done a fantastic job for YEARS. Sure he has been ok. But, nothing special. To an agressively run organization that alone is enough to cosider moving on.

If you have an employee who is not proven to be consistently special, to be among the very best in their field, who has large gaps of ability and experience, who doesn't seem to be improving in those areas very quickly, who complains about the owner to outsiders, who becomes involved in a scheme to deceive the owner for another employee, and does not fire an agent who - to say the least - is not diplomatic - that just makes the decision easier doesn't it?

I wouldn't be the least surprised if Paul Allen (or his proxies) have decided that Warren LeGarie will not get another cent in commission from the Portland Trail Blazers.
